Migraine control & inflammation management was my primary reason for going low carb/keto as meds alone weren't doing it. In my case it's working.
I still get migraines but not nearly as often and not nearly as intense and typically it's only when exposed to a trigger. Don't ask me how or why it's exactly working - all I know is that it is.2 -

I sometimes get the ocular type of migraine, usually from eyestrain. Working on computers all day, reading ipad on the commute home--not a great combination. But lchf has helped a lot.1 -

As most know I have been Keto for the most part going on 5 years. @tcunbeliever your 100 day remark reminded me that was when I started to see positive medical keto side effects like with IBS. We now know keto help for kids with seizures seems to be due to positive changes in their gut microbiome and not the ketones directly. Reading today how mental and physical health is greatly determined by the make up of one's gut microbiome I am starting to think perhaps it is the foods that makes up our keto macros that is correcting our gut microbiome ratios that makes keto sound so magical when we talk about it to others. For the last couple years I have had the sense there is more to keto health improvements than just ketones alone. The article supports there is more to keto than just ketones.

I think you & I were reading the same base article, GaleHawkins. I agree, it isn't all about the ketones themselves.... I think its more the foods that make up a healthy keto diet that have the effects.1

I think mine are cluster headaches (for those that don't know, they're like migraines, except movement actually makes them feel better), but this is why I stayed low carb, too. It was an unexpected effect that happened, but certainly not unwelcome!
I went from 800mg+ Ibuprofen per day to zero in a week or two (and not even stepping down, I just noticed one day that I hadn't needed it at all in a while), and now generally the only time I get headaches is when I indulge in too many carbs (particularly sugar and easily broken down starches).2
