Hi all,

I am new-ish to low carbing and just found this group. :-)

I started by cutting out coca cola which I had a huge problem with and stopped taking sugar in hot drinks. Then I started to watch out for refined carbs more and more, and now I try to keep my carbs around or under 100g.

I have read Primal Blueprint and have since then reduced wheat-based foods, mainly bread and pasta, which I used to have most days, but now reduced to maybe once a week.

I feel fab in terms of energy and no longer get those dreadful energy slumps.

Anyway I just wanted to say hi and have a little nosey at recipes etc. :-)

    Hi,

Glad you've found your way to the low carb way of life. I specifically follow Primal as it accentuates whole foods and doesn't freak out over a little cheese. Atkins leaves a lot of room for fake processed things in a box or a wrapper so I make sure I get my carbs from fruit and veggies. Mostly veggies. Thankfully I don't care too much about fruit. The best part of Primal is that it emphasizes high fat which keeps you full. I don't have too much trouble staying within my calories because the fat is very satisfying. As for recipes go to www.marksdailyapple.com for great recipes, forums and tons of motivation and information that will really help answer any questions you have. My diary is open so feel free to get an idea of what I eat. I've lost about 14 lbs in 6 weeks. I like to cook so you will see lots of entries to account for all the ingredients. I will say again: FAT IS YOUR FRIEND! Keep it at about 60-65% of your daily calorie intake and you will do great!. I try to keep my carbs below 50 and below 30 if I can to speed weight loss but as you will see from the MDA website, weightloss will occur between 100-150 gms of carbs but a little more slowly. Primal is a way of eating that has way more benefits than just weight loss. Good luck!
