Perimenopause and exercise ?

I am 42 and have gotten back into exercising mainly running. I finally worked up to a 5km. Exercising use to be a way to help me feel better during my period. However my periods have become erratic (early), also I have had a couple periods that were extremely heavy ,"flooding" as I have seen it called on the internet. Does anybody else have this problem, and if so what do you do ? I feel like I get on a roll and then boom Hello AF is here, and I'm out of commission for 3-5 days, and then you have to get motivated again. Any advice ? Does anybody still workout through this, or do you take a mini vacation ?
