My wife had a gastric sleeve bypass on the 19 of May. She had to stay on liquids for 2weeks soft 1 week. She went of soft 1 day early. She also only took 5 days off after, surgery an she is on her feet all day at work. I did go up and did any lifting that had to be done for her. She ended up getting a stomach bug the day she went off soft. An could not keep anything down, even water. It was a 48 hr bug. Ever since then about all she can keep down is water an, maybe half a protein shake. She can’t keep her vitamins down. She has tried going back to liquids only. All, she can do is sip water or protein shakes but not both. Her doctor just keeps saying stay on liquids get enough water an protein. She is not able to both. We have bought multiple different types of protein shakes. Same result with them all. Already had one er visit due to dehydration. Her weight loss is going to fast she has lost 60+ since her surgery. Any advice out there would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Understand none of us here are Dr’s we can’t give any medical advice. When was her last Drs visit and when was she in the ER for dehydration? If you are not happy with your Drs advice seek a second opinion.

Is she sipping protein and water slowly? After drinking a shake, how much time passes before she tries to drink water?

There is a product to try, it’s called natures best zero carb protein water. Make sure it’s on her dieticians/surgeons plan. Its like a protein water sports drink. They are not as thick as shakes. (GNC/vitamin shoppe and amazon.)
    1 bottle 160 calories 0 carbohydrates 40 grams protein - no sugar

I understand we are not doctors on here. I appreciate the reminder on that. Should of put more detail, at hospital they also did ct scans with an with contrast ran a lot of tests. Everything looked good. I was seeing if anyone else had these issues; an how they dealt with them. She did those isopure drinks an she liked them we got her another an she was able to keep it down. She was able to keep a banana down too. Either going to get vitamin patches or shots. I appreciate the response.
