I’m 2 days from my 2 week post op mark and struggling with being able to intake enough protein and hydration to keep myself from being dizzy and in pain. How do I get to where I am not dizzy every time I stand?

I won't lie, it is really hard to get your fluids and protein in that early. I was always on the verge of dehydration, and in fact, after getting a bad stomach virus, I ended up in the ER to get fluids.

If you find yourself getting dizzy often, it may be worth getting checked for dehydration. Fluids are the most important aspect that soon after your WLS. Protein is important as well, but as my doctor put it, we have reserves that will help us for a bit. That is not the case with fluids.

It will get better though, I promise. I am over a year out and don't even feel like I had VSG. I can eat small meals (definitely more than a few bites that some people lead you to believe), be completely content, and I can easily drink 80-100 ounces of water a day. Just keep pushing through and do the best that you can. For me, the hardest part was being so tired from the lack of food at first. Once I was able to start eating a bit more, I felt 100% better.

Are you on blood pressure meds? If so, they may need to be adjusted since rapid weight loss decreases blood pressure naturally... Just keep sipping! Its hard, but you can do it and it definitely gets easier.

Your main focus after surgery is getting adequate fluids. If you are meeting your fluids goal, then add in protein.
you should be sipping all day long, set an alarm, to take a sip at least every 15 minutes.

Thank You, All So Very Much. I will try setting an alarm to sip my water and also set an appointment with my PCP to adjust my blood pressure meds.....I will focus on mainly getting in my fluids/water and now that I’m on the baby food stage I’ve been adding flavorless protein powder to it because I’m only really about to get maybe 9 spoonfuls of the baby food down in 20 mins time which isn’t much
