Have been away for a very long time due to major health issues - but I am finally getting back to LCHF as it is the best way to cure the majority of my illnesses and I would prefer to lose the weight without resorting to Bariatric surgery that I am now on track for.

I know this WOE helps get rid of Diabetes as I remember from the last time I was here how many were helped - was diagnosed with this in January but recently I have had the confirmation that I have Chronic Liver disease with Advanced Fibrosis/Stage 1 Cirrhosis all brought on by the poor food choices I had made over the majority of my life so I am now hoping to stop this from progressing any further.

Has anyone been through this at all and found relief?

Am also open to finding friends again to help us motivate each other.

Looking forward to getting started properly and getting well again

I had a friend who used keto to help with NAFLD, but I don't know if that's a similar issue to your liver issues or not.

Thank you my liver issues started with NAFLD so it’s good to know it helps - fibrosis/cirrhosis is when there is permanent scarring so the importance now is to heal the remaining fatty liver

Welcome back! I think most keto docs are in agreement that it helps heal NAFLD, it can't hurt. Good luck to you.

I love keto eating and know just losing weight by any means helps a lot of health/medical issues. Have you ever researched into milk thistle?

Everyone in my house takes it for liver health. My boyfriend and dog both had fatty liver disease. Both started taking milk thistle which is known for liver support and healing.

My daughter and I take it for prevention. I used to have cirrhosis of the liver.

But, the body has an amazing ability to heal itself!

Welcome back! My husband has just had a biopsy to see if his NAFLD has progressed to fibrosis. I have been trying to get him low carb for years and I think he's finally now starting to take it seriously. Best wishes to you and the best part is you are motivated so I know you can do this! :)
