So here's my story. I have always been a small person. I'm 5'0 tall, and for the majority of my adult life my weight typically stayed between 110-120.

This is a first for me, I don't speak so openly usually especially to complete strangers but I need motivation & would love to motivate others to stick to it! I need to force myself to have some accountability so I am trying something new!

Over the past few years though I have put on quite a bit of weight (45 lbs to be exact :s ) Some was due to medications & surgery. Some I believe came from the fact that I reached a point in my life where I could finally breathe relief and didn't let stress bring me down...but most quite frankly was due to being just a tad too lazy and eating things I shouldn't.

My job consists of hardcore physical labor; I love that it's outdoors but by the time I get home I am usually exhausted so I have a very hard time sticking to any sort of exercise routine.

I eat fairly well overall, but have come to realize I have a portion control issue and also ruin myself when I travel (which is a lot). If I get so busy that I just don't have time to eat, I get Hangry & end up binging on whatever I can get my hands on. I have slowly sabotaged myself into someone I don't really recognize at all.

So now that 40 is just around the corner for me it's time to kick it into gear and get in shape. I REFUSE to go into this stage of my life in my current state. Any tips and motivation would be amazing, Thanks!!!

Hello! I am honestly in your same boat. I am 5'3 and have always been about 115-120 lbs. Starting at age 41, weight has became an issue. I am now 44 and still have not been motivated enough to loose weight. I am currently 143lbs. It's like my new weight. Ugh. I also am struggling at running and doing any type of exercise. .I am hoping to break this cycle.
I should add, I have never been very exercise driven or followed any type of exercise regime. So this is a very hard challenge for me.

I agree with you on the exercise part....even if I had a job that wasn't physical labor I still wouldn't work out. I literally hate it, but know that it must be a necessary task for me to do to get anywhere.

My husband got me an apple watch so I've been trying to keep track of things there..and I am very surprised at how much activity I actually do in a day. Which is a little disheartening because you would think it would contribute to losing something. Maybe it's just the routine my body is used to? Who knows, but I've had alot of people tell me they have been able to control their weight just by food and without exercise so maybe that could happen.

I am new to using this app in general but I'm going to try my best to log everything. I am also trying out the whole intermittent fasting thing which seems to be going well even though I'm only 3 days in. I am eating only between 6am & 4pm. I know a lady who used to work as a physical trainer and she said that is an excellent way to start losing quick. Have you tried this ever? Hopefully I can keep it up :)

I have never tried but am interested.
I have a Garmin watch and I also plan on logging all my activity and food. Food is my definite downfall. It's nice to meet you!

Hello everyone. I am back after a 2.5 year hiatus from my fitness pal I did really well with earlier this year with working out 5 times a week for about 45 minutes strength training mostly. Then fell off the wagon. I am a compulsive eater. I had gastric sleeve surgery and only lost 30 pounds in the past 2 years I have gained 20 of that back. New bariatric dr has me trying lomaira and topiramate to see if that helps with the compulsion to eat. 2 days so far and seems to be working.

Nice to meet you as well poshedteacher! Today was a bit challenging for me because I am traveling and was not able to eat within the time frame that I've been trying to get used to doing, so hopefully I can stay on track a little better tomorrow. I feel like logging everything has helped alot to make me feel accountable for what I'm eating so good luck to you on doing the same :)

melpovosmith I totally get the compulsive eating thing...look at it this way, you've still kept 10 of that off so at least you are still doing better than before. Good luck to you with the meds, I hope they help to subside the cravings. I may need to look into that! I've been doing good this week but I know it's only a matter of time before I fall off the wagon as well.
