Question keto to low carb

I see a lot people on the Keto groups say they're back. Fell off wagon, gained weight back...

When you get off keto, does the weight come back quickly, like as soon as you get more carbs in?

Has anyone lost weight with Keto (15-25 net carbs) and edged into low carbs (75-150 net carbs) and maintained successively?

Or are the successful maintainers still at keto level carbs and just up their calorie intake?

I upped my calories a bit around the first of this year. I was at a huge deficit for quite a while, now not so much. I'm still losing a bit of weight on occasion, but it's a lot slower than before.

I still try to keep my carbs around 20g net, but I don't fret of I go over by a bit. I'm more concerned with getting my protein in. Though lately that's been an issue as I just don't have an appetite during the summer.

That said I'm also a weird case because even with the huge amount of weight I've lost I'm still fairly immobile most of the time. The pain is still there and the fatigue can hit at any time.

    Thanks for replying!!

I got another weird thing for pain... Only works for certain pains though, fibromyalgia, RA, chronic pains joints and muscles.

Rhus Tox- sold at The Vitamin Shoppe.

Before dating, my fiance was a mess when I met him. Chronic joint pains. He was using cane to walk, could barely walk... Would grunt just to stand. I picked up Rhus-Tox for him for $8.00, just thought it was worth a try. He finally agreed to try it. A few days later, no cane, pain decreased significantly. Now, he only has pain if he over does it with physical activity or very heavy lifting.

At first, he was pissed at me for picking it up... Going off if the doctors, neurologists, pain specialists, and physical therapists couldn't help him, why in hell did I think I could...

Needless to say, after pain was gone, he was a much happier person, and eternally grateful, lol.

I hate it when people hurt, and I believe there are cures for almost everything... Or at least fixes.

I'll have to look into this one as well. At this point I'd try just about anything. I'm a lifelong pain person due to some birth stuff, then in my late teens/early 20s had some injuries that caused issues with my back, and then my immune system went haywire and now I'm in pain everywhere.

If it was just my leg like when I was growing up I could deal with it but when I can't sit or sleep or do much of anything without major discomfort it gets to be a bit much. I've tried the pain pills, muscle relaxers, etc and that really didn't do much except numb my brain to the point that I'm a blubbering mess. Plus it's expensive and a major hassle with the crackdowns due to the pill heads.

My Doc wants me on medical MJ but I tried it once and that wasn't a pleasant experience. Hallucinations immediately upon trying it and nightmares for a week afterward wasn't a very pleasant experience.

I had my boyfriend start taking Rhus-Tox 200 and arnica Montana 200 (again, controversial) together.

He started off taking both every 4 hours. Eventually tapered down... to none.

Same with that tea (ordered teabags off Amazon), I started off drinking one cup a day in the morning. It helped my fatigue and pains so well, I added a late afternoon cup. Drank two cups a day for about a month, then over the next month, tapered down to one cup a week. That graviola tea fights fatigue and reduces pain.

We were both at a point of trying anything. My quality of life was $h!+. He had pretty much given up on life when I met him.

I can relate to the prescription pain meds...I refuse to take anymore. I was always prescribed Percocet or Demerol, Flexeril, the shots, epidural injections. Etc.

I also take another controversial thing from Mexico...B17. I love the stuff.

But that's it. I don't like taking anything. So currently, B12, B17, magnesium 250 mg, milk thistle, and a cup of the tea 1-2 a week to 1 every couple of weeks.

The boyfriend: magnesium, d, b17, and milk thistle.

Living in pain is the worst, hope you can find some relief!!

I did keto for migraine control, not specifically to lose weight. I was keto September 2017 until this month. At the beginning of July, I switched to low carb. I tracked my food through the early part of July and had no problems losing 2 lbs. I was on vacation last week and maintained weight without tracking food at all.

Eating keto or eating low carb, there isn't much difference. You may gain some water weight, but it won't be significant because you still aren't eating a significant number of carbs compared to an average American diet. Other cultures eat differently, so not sure how LC compares to those.

Thanks for replying. I can't wait to hit goal and play a little with the numbers.

Weight coming off a lot faster than I anticipated, and I also started more for medical reasons, but the weight-loss is a huge bonus.

I was also asking for daughter, she had a lot less to lose and is looking really thin. May be time to up her carbs slightly and slow down her weight-loss.

    Thanks again!

    Hi @Emmapatterson1729

I am new around here. Looking to start keto on Monday of next week. Joined a bunch of keto and low carb boards around here.
For the past year and a half or so I have been doing a combo of low calorie and the Fast Diet (known as 5/2). The last year or so has been pretty rough. Tired and in pain and not in the mood to exercise or follow a healthy WOE. Gained a bunch of weight back. :(
Been dealing with chronic hip and back pain for the past year so so. Been to an RA doc, etc. and they are still trying to properly diagnose me. Long story. LOL
Thank you for the recommendations of the two homeopathy remedies above. I am going to do some research and hope to purchase in the future. :)

Hey, welcome!! Keto is great for energy.

I was a back pain sufferer for years. Twice. The first time, I spent years at drs offices, pain specialist, physical therapy, chiropractor. Finally a neurologist at a pain center discovered I was mal-absorbant, b-deficient. I started taking b vitamins under the tongue, pain was a little better but still there, ordered b17 tablets, started taking, pain disappeared.

Fast forward to injury: slipped herniated disc buldging and pinching a nerve: drs, physical therapist, chiropractors for over a year. Finally got told by drs and chiropractors I'd never be able to really walk or run again, that I needed to accept my new painful and limited quality of life. Very skeptical about acupuncture, but decided to try it.. What did I have to lose...I was using a walker to walk and still pain with every movement.... Chinese acupuncturist told me he'd fix me in 5 weeks. 4 1/2 wks later, he said, "okay, you fixed, no more appointments." All pain gone, walking, dancing, jogging and skating again!! Pain never came back... That was almost 8 years ago.

About 3 yrs ago caught a disease that causes joint pains, lymph node pains and head pains. And finally discovered graviola tea for myself and my daughter drinks occasionally for pain.

And the Rhus-Tox with Arnica Montana changed boyfriend's life.

I trust doctors if I have an infection, a cold, emergency stitches needed...I do not trust them for pain management.

Good luck, hope you find relief!!
