Well I forgot to weigh myself this weekend! I thought about it lots but it never happened... should I just weight ( ;) ) until next saturday? Hmm.

After last nights wakeful sleep I slept in this morning again! I was outside a lot today, enjoyed a great walk by myself (ya Kate I did it!) then more with the dog, while out picking more blackberries, so I should sleep well tonight!! I’ve finished today at only 938 calories... I was just full! Oatmeal around 1pm with seeds etc. Huge salad and bbq pork ribs with a homemade low carb sugar free bbq sauce for dinner!! Did you guys know you can by sugar free Heinz ketchup?? I used that then added my “lakanto monk fruit sugar”, spices & stuff and simmered it down to look like it came out of a jar!! Awesome! Such a nice treat for the son!!

Meghan did you make your keto style Mac & cheese? Wondering if you liked it. I made a version of it but my son said not to make it again... oh well I tried!

Kate I haven’t had pizza is forever!! I always loved the spicy ones with banana peppers! Yum! Yum! Glad you took the time and enjoyed!!
You sound so excited for this week! Sounds like those kids are in great hands! Good luck Wednesday!!!

I am still planning a fast day tomorrow. Probably cook some eggs over asparagus for lunch then try drinking all things 0 calorie until dinner and make tea immediately following dinner so I don’t get into trouble! Crossed fingers!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I’ll check back tomorrow!
    Cheers!

    Hi all!

Hope you had a great weekend! We were at the beach on both Saturday and Sunday and it was nice! Sunny and 80's F means I can't complain. :)

Managed to stick to Keto nicely as well! Weekends in the past have tough. Not this time. We stuck to our calories and planned ahead. For Saturday night's dinner we ventured out for dinner. We had fresh steamers (steamed little neck clams) and clams casino that was made with out any breadcrumbs. Just some seasoning, a piece of bacon, and some butter. Last night we used up the sirloin steak tips that were in our freezer, with some zucchini pie on the side. So yeah a little red meat now and then for us.

@mamainthekitchen Yes, the Mediterranean Diet is an inspiration of mine too. We try to eat that way as much as possible of course with a few exceptions since we are sticking with low sugar / low carb fruits and veggies, no grains, breads or beans / legumes - but the rest yes! Probably will eat a little more poultry as it is lighter on the wallet then fish and seafood. Had a few days last week and on the weekend, where I ate fish for lunch and dinner. Yum.

Cut and pasted from the web for anyone interested in what consists of a Mediterranean diet food list.
Eat: Vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, potatoes, whole grains, breads, herbs, spices, fish, seafood and extra virgin olive oil.
Eat in moderation: Poultry, eggs, cheese and yogurt.
Don't eat: Sugar-sweetened beverages, added sugars, processed meat, refined grains, refined oils and other highly processed foods

@KateNkognito I hope you feel better and can get back on to a solid routine with the Fast Diet and fasting twice a week. You got this!
It is hard. Been there myself. In my case fall is coming and I am afraid all of my work pants are too small, so when it is too cool for summer dresses I am going to be in a pickle if I didn't lose weight. Time to get off my butt and get serious again.
As you guys know, I have been dealing with back and hip pain for almost a year and just plain sick and tired of it. Hoping that eating the keto way (for me) helps with the inflammation.
We got this. <3 Good luck with school! My nephew started his first day of kindergarten today. My sis sent a picture. So cute!!

Off to fill up my water cup! Have a great day and see you all soon. :)

Having a great fast day, so far. I was hungry last night before I went to bed, so I was a little worried that I would wake up ravenous. But, honestly, I could go a good while longer without anything. I am going to either make a salad for lunch or a chicken street taco. Both sound good. Dinner will probably be some chicken nuggets on the fly since I have two places to be at once. I won't have time to eat!

@mamainthekitchen Your sauce sounds super yummy! Hopefully the day will go by *fast*. :p I am there with you! We got this!
If it wasn't for pizza, I would be thin! I could (and occasionally DO) have pizza for every meal of the day. >:)

@Meghan509 I am really glad keto is working for you! I really hope it helps with the inflammation. My husband takes a couple of supplements that really help with his arthritis (he's 62). He takes astaxanthan and Reinforce Bone Formula and says that those are the two that help the most.
I haven't tried on my school pants because I am afraid they won't fasten! :o

My youngest starts Junior High in two days and my oldest is a Sophomore. I suddenly feel old!
Off to go install a bike rack on the back of my car so I can drop them off at school every morning. Happy Fasting!

Well, the fast went really well... until the guest speaker showed up with dinner. I did well though. Not a true fast, but I call it a win. Came in around 800 calories. I hope you all have a great day!

    Good morning all!

Turned in to a busy AM, so need to keep this on the short side.

@KateNkognito oh boy I hear you about pizza! I could eat it every day all day and not get tired. LOL
Thanks for the supplement info from your hubs. Aside from some low back pain and some tightness in the AM, I have been feeling a little better in general. I am hoping that Keto will help me with my inflammation.
Congrats on your good day yesterday! Sounds like win to me. Can be very hard when a new meal is thrown at us when we are trying to follow our plan. :)

I am officially off sugar now for over a week and I feel great. I really don't miss my daily coconut sugar in my coffee.
Feeling satisfied and less hungry is HUGE for me too. Seeing the little bowl of fun size candy bars on our break room table doesn't rattle me either. At least not for now. :)

As you know my guy and I are doing this together. Last Friday when he weighed in he had lost 6.8 lbs. This morning he weighed in and he had lost two more. Rolling! So happy for him. I will weigh in as usual on Friday AM.

Hope you all have a great day. See you soon!

Hey Hey people! Wow, our weather has kicked into hot gear again and also very humid, so my lovely walk just about killed me!! I stopped along the way and nibbled on some blackberries to keep me going! B)

Meghan you're doing awesome and so is your man! that's quite a nice encouraging drop for both of you in your first week. It seems so easy and delicious all at the same time, I'm hoping that you start noticing a reduction in inflammation in your joints. I tried to notice but I think since we've also had heat/humidity to deal with at the same time I did not notice one way or the other. I totally get the whole 'seeing candy doesn't rattle you' bonus from being on keto!! I developed a taste for Lindt 90% choco and even now, while no longer doing keto, I still do not want to buy those bags & bags of peanut m&m's or every other item in the candy isle I was addicted to!! Since I'm using Monk Fruit sugar now too, because of my son, for baking items etc... I'm still not craving the candy I was always into! So ya Keto for kick starting that in me!!

Kate enjoy your first day tomorrow!! And if you want to feel old.. wait until your kids friends are having babies!!! :'(

My fast yesterday was pretty good. I think about 750 cals, but I did my big walk and no treats so that's all a plus. I'm ready for thursday to do it again. I really want to get back into focusing on the 2 days. I did find that I didn't drink enough water yesterday and just plain felt a little worn out so with the heat this week I'll need to keep my glass on the window sill glaring at me!

    Have a great day everyone,
    <3

    Hi all!

Happy Wednesday! Week is going by kinda slow but it is summer, and that makes me happy! LOL

@mamainthekitchen I have read about that Monk Fruit sweetener as well. Sounds like you like it! I am slowly getting used to no sugar in my AM coffee. Some days are better than others but I am sticking with it. I think it just takes time. Years ago I used to put TWO packets of Splenda in every cup of coffee I drank. Last five or so years I have been doing one small teaspoon of coconut sugar. Now nothing. *screams* I too love sugar too much. This is a change for me, but so far going really well. Thanks for your insight, it is always appreciated!
Congrats on a great fast yesterday!

Plugging along here. Feeling good. Been good about sticking to my 1300 calories and my carb / fat / protein macros or daily percentages for those reading along. :) Been taking some fiber supplements, along with the other supplements I have been taking. Since less carbs mean less fiber have to stay mindful. Getting most of my carbs from lettuce and a few other leafy veggies. Lots of healthy fats too, i.e., a half of an avocado a day, olive oil, almonds, etc. Yum. Going to weigh in on Friday AM.

Drinking some water and listening to some pretty classical tunes on my PC.

Have a nice one and I will see you all soon!

Morning! I love how excited you sound....a change is good isn’t it! Do you add cream or anything to your coffee? I don’t drink coffee (haven’t for about 23 yrs now!) but when I did it was always just black! I found adding any amount of cream just made me want the sugar but having it black was better!! Although I have friends that would never try black coffee! Haha!

Well you guys won’t believe what I’m doing today!!! I’m heading to Whole Foods (50 min drive!) to look around and then buy & bring home a pizza!! Ha! Yup! Haven’t had pizza in forever... but when I was there about a month ago with the daughter the pizza counter was so amazing! So, the hubs is coming with me today because he’s never been and that place is soooo amazing & fun, I figured he’d love the pizza bar.... so that’s my “date”!!
All this talk of pizza this week!! Haha

Gotta run... get my weight workout in before I take the dog out then clean up & go!
    K
Have a great day everyone... Meghan the link above is for you... all about nuts & seeds - healthy fiber additions.... I used to and still do, add them where I can, especially over a salad!

We made it through the first day! I am tired!
I ended up having a pretty low cal day. Around 1000. I just haven't been as hungry lately. Not sure what I am doing differently. Will have to look at my food logs and my journal and see if I can find a pattern.

It sounds like everyone is doing really well! @mamainthekitchen I hope you had a nice "date". Sometimes those are the most fun times. @Meghan509 Really glad your sugar cravings are going away. I wish mine would take a permanent hike.

Off to bed. Have a GREAT day tomorrow! Happy fasting!

    Good morning all!

Thanks for the link, @mamainthekitchen I have saved it and I am going to pick up some pecans next time I am at the market. I LOVE them and I see they are great for the Keto plan. Hope you had fun at Whole Foods! For next time, check out their rotisserie chickens that they sell. Supposedly they are cheap and very tasty. They make a nice meal or you can pull the meat off and use it in a salad, etc. We tend to buy our rotisserie chickens at Costco. Another good deal and yummy!
Oooh I hear you about pizza! Hee hee! We made it our "last meal" the night before we started Keto. :o

@KateNkognito congrats on a good day! I find that eating more healthy fats and protein have kept my hunger and cravings down quite a bit. Maybe you had a good amount of protein that helped keep you full? :)

Things are good here. Today is my guy's birthday. I might make us a nice sugar free treat for dessert. I picked up a sugar substitute on Amazon called Swerve. @mamainthekitchen you may find it useful for your son and his needs? Link is below. It is made from erythritol and supposedly tastes pretty natural. I will let you know!

Have a great day and I will check in again soon!

    Good morning!

Glad your first day went well kate! Hope those kids stay on their best behavior or hoping you’ve learned some tricks to keep them in line ;)

Rotisserie chickens are awesome Meghan I agree! I must have missed them yesterday!!! It’s just amazing that store... the rich cheese section!!! And all the different olives at the olive bar!! However....... MY hubs saw the pizza and didn’t have the same reaction to it like I did when I first saw it!! He thought it had too much crust on the edge! Omg! So no pizza for dinner!! I cooked up chicken fillets in balsamic dressing to go with a salad... again!! *sigh*

I haven’t tried swerve yet as I haven’t found it in my stores.. I’ve tried Truvia... and didn’t really like it. What I have found that I do really like is something called Monk Fruit Sugar.... here’s a link
    https://well.ca/products/lakanto-all-natural-sugar-free_104392.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuoOg8K6F5AIVhv5kCh0qkQleEAQYAiABEgIIgvD_BwE

I sprinkle this on top of my toasted pecans right in the hot pan.., the stuff liquifies, toss to coat and lay out on wax paper to cool and the pecans have a beautiful shiny sweet coating great for that spring mix salad with strawberry goat cheese, red onion & balsamic dressing! Oh, & sprinkle chia seeds of course!! When I need this to be powdered sugar, I whip it up thoroughly in my nutribullet for a bit!! Then melt in butter with cocoa for a fat bomb! Omg those were good! (I’ll stop now ;) )

I don’t feel like doing anything today and it’s only 10:30 am! Uh oh!!

TGIF!!! The first few days are always weird. Long bouts of nothing with bursts of frantic activity. Next week should even out, the kids will start to show their true colors and we will be able to accommodate accordingly. My college classes start Monday. Fun times.
I am swollen from all the extra activity I have been doing and the latest bout of hot weather, but I am WAY under calories for the week. I will be interested to see if I lose on Sunday or not. Still not sure why I haven't been very hungry lately. But I will take it!

    LOL that cracked me up!
I LOVE rotisserie chickens! I buy them a lot in the winter and throw a salad and a side with it for a quick dinner and then use the leftover chicken for enchiladas or casserole later in the week.
@Meghan509 Happy (belated) Birthday to your fella!
I am going to go take a nap... all night long. Have a great weekend!

    Hi all!

Ugh had a nice post and lost it. Stupid tablet!
Lost 2.8 pounds this week! Very happy.
Took a vacation day today and had a lovely beach day. B) Tomorrow we will celebrate his birthday at a friend's house.
Sounds like Whole Foods was good @mamainthekitchen. Thanks for the link. I will check it out!
Hope you have a loss this week @KateNkognito !

Off to make a quiche for dinner. See you soon!

WOO HOO! Lost a pound this week! Only 54 more to go! LOL
I think the thing that was making me not as hungry was, sadly, not having breakfast. I love breakfast. I am a hobbit. I love second breakfast, too. But, if I want to be healthy and lose some weight, I am going to have to give it up for a while. :'( I will experiment this week to confirm my suspicions.
Have a GREAT week! Happy fasting to anyone that will be joining in tomorrow! To all the lurkers, HELLO!

    Good morning all!

Had a great weekend! Monday here we are sigh... LOL Hope everybody is doing well!

Congrats on your loss @KateNkognito! Yes, I hear you about breakfast. When I was eating more carbs especially, I would find that I would be hungry and ready for lunch mid day, vs. without it I was more like "oh it's time for lunch!?"

@mamainthekitchen I found Monk Fruit sweetener at my local TJ Maxx / Marshall's over the weekend and I tried some today in my coffee. I LOVE IT! I actually like it better than the Swerve sweetener I picked up on Amazon recently. Will keep the Swerve for dessert recipes, as it tastes a little sweeter (too sweet?), otherwise Monk Fruit it is! Thanks for mentioning it recently.

The weekend went really well. On Saturday we had plans to go over a friend's house to celebrate my guy's birthday and of course hang out, catch up with friends. Luckily they were doing a BBQ so it worked out well for Keto. We brought a Keto Friendly salad, some cheese, and some rolled cold cuts and cheese. For dinner we had proteins and salad. Skipped the corn, crackers, sugary alcoholic beverages, and cake. :)

Yesterday I ended up doing a fast that had started after dinner on Saturday night 8:00pm or so, until 5:00pm Sunday. Only thing I had during that time was some coffee with half and half and some water. Honestly didn't feel bad at all on Sunday. We shared a salad with grilled chicken and mozzarella cheese for late lunch / early dinner and the whole day flew and I didn't get in my full calories but wasn't sweating it. Turned in to a Light Day!

Planning to stick to my calorie goals and continue on Keto this week and going forward. Really liking it.

Speak to you soon! Have a good day - especially those of you who are fasting!

Wow oh wow! I have found those few pounds you two have lost!! :s About 3 in total!! Argh!!

Glad you like the Monk Fruit sugar Meg!!! I had tried most of them including some liquid stuff! I’m sticking to the Monk Fruit too and have learned to pulverize the heck out of it when needing powdered type sugar. I seriously don’t know why everyone isn’t using it!! Your weekend sounded fun and healthy which makes for a positive week ahead I say!! Congrats on your loss!

Kate, congrats on your loss too!! You’ve had such a busy week last week that you missed your breakfast making you an intermittent faster by default! That alone will help move the scales!

I’ve written out quite a lengthy list of chores for me to accomplish today!! But I only want to watch that Downton Abby special i taped last night!!!! Sigh.... 3 hours worth!! Ha!

Planning on a normal eating day today and fast day tomorrow!!
    Happy Monday!

I had a Monday of a Monday!! So I ate an ounce of cheddar. 640 calories total today. After a day like today, that is not just a win, it is the CHAMPIONSHIP!

@Meghan509 You go, girl! A low carb BBQ *and* a fast in one weekend!

@mamainthekitchen Sorry you found my missing pounds! I hope you got your To Do list DONE!

Off to get some homework done and grumble about my day. Going to bed early to see if that makes tomorrow better!

Was planning on fasting today.... I just may stick to that plan since I have quite a tummy ache! Not sure why, but also didn’t sleep well!!! So I feel like crap! I suppose that’s a perfect set up for a fast day :/
I’ll probs go buy some broth! Ughh

You ladies are on a roll!!!! Keep it up and have a great day!!
