At my doctor's advice I started taking a gym class that features HIIT (high intensity interval training). I did this even though i was 300 lbs at the time (and it went fine and I have lost 50 lbs since starting). There was a very positive impact on my GL numbers in very short order. But exercise is kind of a personal choice; you might have to experiment a bit to see what you like doing well enough to keep doing it.

The best exercise is the one you will actually do.

I couldn't agree more!!! I like to go for a walk in the forest for 30 minutes to an hour. I joined a Run Club (I don't actually run, I lead a walking group). I do my best to get 30 minutes of walking or shopping a day.
"They" suggest some kind of resistance training to keep your muscles strong, and always a bit of stretching after a walk.

    Hope this helps.

I've been taking 20-30 minute walks on my lunch break. Big drop in BG. I'm also looking at Nordic/pole walking as a way to burn more calories without my knees, or wallet, getting any more banged up.
