General philosophy of health and happiness

The key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the cycle of goals, awareness and action.

• Goals – have in mind what you want to achieve. This can be at many levels and over different time periods, such as being fit when you retire, how to change what you eat and drink over the next month or to cycle for 10 minutes today.

• Awareness – become knowledgeable about what affects your goals (and by how much), both negatively and positively. In this case, which food stuffs can be eaten in ample quantities and which are high in glycemic load/calories and should, therefore, not be eaten often or should be avoided altogether.

• Action – as you become aware of how different food, drink and exercise affect what you're trying to achieve choose to take action with those things that are going to affect your goals in a positive way (get closer to them) and choose not to take the actions that are going to be negative.
