Food diary

When you're starting out enter a record of everything you eat and drink on a daily basis. You don't need to change what you normally eat, and you don't need to stay within the calorie limit. This will just help to become aware of the relative effects of different foodstuffs within your usual diet.
After a week or two keep the diary going, but stay within the daily limit specified. Hopefully the food diary raises awareness of the effects of food and drink intake in terms of the energy (calories). The changes, to a more healthy diet, should not be seen as temporary, but as working towards a sustainable healthy lifestyle. This is an opportunity to explore exciting new food to eat and to eliminate from your diet that which is going to have a negative effect on your health.
