We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for October are below:
Monday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Tuesday - Imastar2 (Derrick)
Wednesday - gavinflynn1 (Gavin)
Thursday - misterhub (Greg)
Friday - goldenfrisbee (Chris)
Today’s topic: The Joy of Success!! We talk and discuss a lot about our need to do better how to lose and efforts to maintain. However Success is important. No matter how small or how big. Do you take Success and rejoice in it? Build on it?. How do you handle your Successes.

In always happy to have success with a loss with my weekly WI but I really don't slow down and analyze what I did that week to create my loss. I most times get caught up in what I've done wrong when in reality what I ate or did yesterday is totally out of my control because it's yesterday. Something I can do nothing about. Being happy is vital to success thinking about the present doing what it takes to be successful in the moment. Small successes equal big successes at the end of the day.
So I'm going to revel in the success of each meal for MTBC for example and revel in the success of the day. Not that analization of a choice is not important but success to me is more important.0 -
I haven't been the best at celebrating but have taken it on myself to do more. I made a pint of celebrating my half way to the moon in cycling mileage a few weeks ago (over 119,450 miles) as I passed 120,000 miles. I had told a WW buddy that I had reached the unimaginable 100,000 mile mark and he said "well why not go to the moon". I did some quick math and realized that the moon is on average about 238,900 miles away and I doubt I will live that long to get there but half way was doable.
I enjoyed getting into "onderland" down from around 220 lb and enjoyed every decade of loss below that. Not a big celebrator but it does make one feel good to notye tyhe successes when they happen. d
Having clothes fit better is great too. Lately it is staying below goal and small ones at that.1 -
I attended WW meetings and collected all the stuff along with some snarky remarks from some of the women.
But this- one week I lost .2 lbs. That was success. And it was hard to handle. But it was an important point.
I caught myself kicking my own butt over the .2. But it was a fact that it was a step in the right direction. Why the kick? I always struggle with the issue. Weight loss is about getting the scale moving down. What’s the calendar have to do with it?
Good topic. I think being overweight must cause some kind of confusion about success. It seems to be an issue.1
