We went out to "Miss Saigon” at the theater last night, and my meal was so full of sodium! I'm going to blame that for the gain because I was pretty good this week so far. Lots of water today!

Congratulations Nats!!!! I'm sure everyone in the DC area is super excited!! Sarah, I was wondering if you were at the game or watched it on TV, since I think you're still out of town. (BTW, Happy Birthday to your sister!) We recorded it, but haven’t had a chance to watch. Since it's all over the news today, we couldn't black out the spoiler, lol! I'll probably watch it anyway :p

Hubby had a colonoscopy and stomach scope yesterday, so I had a chance to talk to the gastro doc. He said since I seem to have a reaction to the med, it's fine to stop taking it. He recommended Benefiber, so I plan to begin trying that. But, actually, the last couple of days have been much better, and I feel good. So, maybe the antibiotic treatment and time are resolving the issue. Fingers crossed. Lois, I hope you're feeling better.

Well, I thought I might gain, but I had hoped not a full pound. Just wanted to get this logged since I am a day late. I took my computer with me, but tried not to bury my head in it while I was away, and I had to do a minimum amount of work because my new back-up person was able to see the inboxes but not send from them. Grrrrrr.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Sheesh. After seeing my poor sister, I am so grateful for being as healthy as I am. Although last night, I might have begged to differ. For some reason, I had a bad allergic reaction to something. Hopefully it's not my house! Last year, they checked me for every allergic trigger under the sun (and no--no reaction at all to kitties) and the only things I reacted to were two off the wall chemicals found in nothing I use and a slight reaction to dogs. I was around my sister's new puppy for 3 days and had no reaction, but two hours after we got home, I had a rash on my chest and serious itching in "unmentionable territory." Goodness. I'm on allegra today and seem to be doing better.

I will be back later to fill you ladies in on my trip and other things. And yes--we're over the moon about the Nats! Watched the final two playoff games at my sister's. Wish we could have been there.

Sorry Ladies - it's been a week. And a heavier one at that. I'm way up today and I'm having some mind games going. I did reach out to a friend and we're working on a game plan next week after I return. I went to put on jeans for California because hey, we're still almost 100 and it's going to be cooler in Cali so shorts won't work. While they fit, they were not comfy and I'm going to be at a park so I need to be comfy. Ordered new ones from Macy's next size up...yeah no. No fitto.... so when I was out running around shopping for basket supplies, I bought the NEXT next size up and am feeling like *kitten* that those fit. And to top it off, the company ordered us new Nike shirts and yeah, I was freaking out that it wasn't going to fit either because, well, Nike tends to run small and tight in the arms. Got super lucky on this cut. I will wear when required, but not voluntarily right now...

So my friend and I are going to train to run the Black Canyon trail run in March...it's a hard one and a long one (9k and tough vertical and narrow terrain - super pretty)...we'll see if my neck and tummy interfere, but we are going to focus on getting in the activity to get us ready because both us do so much better with intake if we're training for something. that's the game plan... ugh. We talked about Dietbet, but I don't do well in competition with others. I need to be told what to do and not be compared and judged by what others do.

Sarah I thought about you while you traveled and sadly did not watch the games...actually went home and slept...felt like I was fighting off something for a few days. Feeling better but not energetic. Was hoping you'd have some positive and happy news about your visit with your sister and I hope your allergy issues come under control soon.

Sheesh - my gastro had me add citrucell and I tried it for almost two weeks. I felt that and the probiotics exacerbated my issues. I hope you have better results and quickly.

Super duper crazy busy at the office and the remodel is nearly complete. Rumor has it I'll be in my new permanent office early next week....fingers are crossed. Work 1/2 day tomorrow and then head to Calif for the shower and family visit - back on Sunday. Ordering groceries for hubby to pick up so I can be on plan. Proteins are ready to go, just need the sweet potatoes and the veggies.

It's midnight and I just figured out the software problem I have been having since about 5 o'clock today. I called ITSO, which is our IT help at CDC, and they worked with me for 45 minutes and said they'd just need to escalate to a higher team. I lost an hour of work time, which I couldn't afford since I had two meetings today that also cut into my catch-up time. Arghhh. So I decided I would figure it out myself tonight. And I did. Hubby got us Pho for dinner and I took a break for to eat and then feel asleep watching the last innings of the Yankees and Astros game to scope out the competition. So no steps hardly at all for me today. :s

My sister was not doing well at all while we were in NC. She was in the bed the entire time, and I could not even get her to sit up to eat from a tray. She is eating very little and that concerns me a lot. She also seems to have times when she is not thinking clearly or else she can't articulate what she is thinking. That is different and her husband said it was something that he had not noticed until the past few days. Years and years of chronic pain and failed surgeries and then the broken bones and now a blood disorder. It's all becoming too much for her body to bear. I feel bad because when we go down, I don't even spend a whole lot of time with her because you can just sit on a bed and try to talk to someone who keeps nodding off just so much. And I can't stand to be in a room with no light and she would not let me open the blinds to let in the pretty fall sunshine. It's depressing. Yesterday morning before we left, she seemed a lot more like herself, but I don't know how long that lasted. When we called to say that we were almost home and had made it safely, she did not answer her phone.

Lois, I am feeling kind of down myself about my weight creeping up. I can give you all the reasons but honestly, I've got to figure out how to take better care of myself despite being on the emergency response team and having the weather getting too cool to walk outside in the evening. Those things are not going to change for a while. I have things going on Monday evening and Thursday evening and my walking buddy does church on Wednesday evening, so I'm hoping we can start walking on Tuesday and/or Friday. I know the key, however, is intake. In NC and to and from there we ate out a lot. This weekend, I am going to take a page out of your book and menu plan for next week.

One thing about Macy's jeans, though. Lately, the brand that fits me best is Macy's Charter Club which comes in petite, short, regular, and tall. The short fit me better than petite jeans as I'm long in the body. Before we left, I dropped in to buy a new pair and took four pairs into the dressing room. Of that four (all the same size and brand) one pair fit, one pair was too large, and two pair were too small. Go figure. There is no quality control anymore. I mentioned this to the clerk and she said that lots of people complain about that--and not just with Charter Club but with other brands. I bought the one pair that fit, but if I had wanted others, I may have bought up a size or down a size--who knows?

I say lets make a real commitment during the next few weeks to make some positive changes and check in with each other as often as we can. I did much better those couple of weeks where I shared my goals and reported in, although I felt like a posting hog! Well it's now after 12:30 a.m., so I'm calling it a day and will try to check in again tomorrow.

Glad to see your posts ladies. . Lois, I'm so glad you've decided to go for a race because I know how much you love those and how you get motivated training for them. I wish I could find a good motivator myself. I haven't done a race in years. . I'll have to check some out. We'll be going to support out DIL in Sonoma for her half marathon, but I'll be burning calories chasing grandkids, lol.

Sarah, I'm so sorry about your sister. Yes, we must try hard to hold onto our health! I'm ready to make a real commitment now, so let's do it. Although, I'll be out of town from the 25th to Nov 4, I promise to get some activity with my kids and grandkids, and also eat sensibly. I never seem to overeat on trips to see my kids. . I overeat more at home with my snacking hubby and watching sports on TV. So, hopefully I won't gain on this trip, and I'll be able to hit the ground running when I'm back.
