Thanks for helping me figure out how to approach cutting weight while lifting. As you can see, though I've only lost 9 lbs on the scale since I started to cut, the results have been dramatic!
MFP won't display the whole pic, but you can see it here:

The left column is from January, weight 205 lbs. The middle column is April, also 205. The right column is August, 196. :oD

Wow....this is HUGELY inspiring to me, since I am losing so slowly, while simultaneously lifting. I already have some "before" pics. I definitely need to keep up with taking "afters", it looks like!!0

Great job! It's amazing how different your body looks when you haven't really lost that much scale weight. Gives me some hope!0

Thanks so much, everyone! Reading through the responses put the biggest smile on my face, and I love that there are other people losing slowly while lifting who got a bit of reassurance from the pictures.
As for my goals... well, the progress shown from the second column to the third was the result of a very slow cut to get under 198 for my second powerlifting meet while still building strength. I ate at maintenance for several weeks after the meet, and now I'm beginning a more aggressive cut while trying to maintain current strength levels. Goal for this cut is 180 lbs, at which point I expect to be off the last oral diabetes med I'm on and with normal glucose levels -- which is the reason for the cut.
Once I reach 180, I'll spend some time determining what my new maintenance level is and eat to maintain weight while I start building strength again for a few months. Then I'll alternate periods at maintenance and slow cuts until my body fat is about 20-22%.
Goals by the end of 2014: body fat 20-22%, squat 315 lbs, bench 150 lbs, deadlift 405 lbs.0 -
