I would like to do more exercise but find when I do, I end up with lows either soon after or within 12 hours, treating and feel defeated consuming the calories to treat. Are there programs or trainers out there to help with strategy?

I feel the same way! I usually go in a little high..like eat an apple on my way into the gym.

Try reducing your basal if on a pump or reducing your fast acting insulin at a meal and going straight after. That's what I was taught to do. Talk with your diabetes nurse first though.

I was told not to exercise unless blood sugar is 150. Usually I accomplish this with 15 grams of carbs before working out, like an apple as mentioned above.
The American Diabetes Association has great exercise information. Also they have Ask The Expert talks you can listen to or call in with your questions.
