Just wondering if anyone on here has personally felt positive effects of a ketogenic diet on concussion issues?

My husband has had many concussions (some quite severe) and has lingering issues from them even tho the last concussion was nearly 10 years ago -headaches, dizziness which will make him feel nauseous and sleep issues. I keep trying to suggest he try keto to see if it helps but he tried once and got keto flu and gave up lol.

Hoping if I could tell him about some people’s personal experiences maybe he’d try again. (I have read studies about it but I think personal stories carry more weight)

Thanks!

I haven’t ever heard anyone’s personal story regarding concussions but we do know that saturated fat is very good for the brain.
Maybe look around Georgia Ede’s website for info on brain health.
She would promote a diet as close to carnivore as he would be willing to go I believe. She has many great interviews in various podcasts as well.
I’ve never heard her discuss conscissuon but anything that promotes brain health overall would be ideal I would think.

I've found research and articles backing this up, although it appears most of the benefit would have come from doing keto immediately after the injury.

That being said, TBI/RHI is what got me on low-carb to begin with (not keto as my issues aren't bad enough to warrant being that strict). I've only been on it a few weeks, maybe a month at this point. My biggest issue is vision divergence. I can't say that I've had any great, magical results yet, but my most recent concussion was 2013, so they are all pretty old, too. I'm starting more eye exercises in hopes of improving things some more.

Since switching my diet up, however, I've found it much easier to stick to my calorie goals, my workouts are going GREAT, and I'm losing weight at the rate I was hoping for - but wasn't seeing. Some of that is simply that it's easier for me to adhere to my calorie range. Can't say if there's more to it than that or not :)
