Hi, all! I'm Kat from Long Beach, CA, and I've been struggling from binge eating disorder for years. Last week, I went to a registered dietitian and started looking for a therapist (which is pretty impossible in my area because they all have wait lists). I thought I was doing okay on the nutrition plan until I went to a wedding on Saturday which was serve yourself style with a dessert buffet table. You can guess what happened. I realized that most of my friend interactions involve food, and I'd like to steer away from there. Where do I even start? And how do I handle situations like this wedding?

In April I did a 6 month Noom course that really helped me get to the root cause of my binge eating and food choices. I can honestly say it was very helpful for me. Before Noom I was considering a diet doctor or nutritionist or over eaters anonymous. I felt like I needed some sort of therapy to understand why I was doing this and how to stop. The diet plan associated with Noom wasn’t helpful for me as I have an auto immune condition and food intolerances/allergies but the psych part and daily tasks and goal setting was great 👍2

Thanks for the info on Noom. One of my friends is on it but hasn’t lost much weight. So they helped with binges?0

Yes. It helped me figure out why I was over eating and how to create new habits in place of my old ones. I didn’t lose much weight following the Noom way of eating. Its very low cal, low fat, everything in moderation sort of eating plan. Following there woe helped me lose I think 8 pounds over 4 1/2 months. I eventually gave up the everything in moderation philosophy and stopped eating sugar and grains. Eating my way has allowed me to lose 10 more pounds since September 7. I have less physical pain, anxiety, and less urges to binge. Everyday Noom would give me a daily task to help me achieve my weekly goals. A lot of the tasks where hard questions for me to dig deep and find the real reasons I was over eating and feeding my emotions. And then the next task would teach me to overcome my new found issues, so to speak. It was cool. I wouldn’t pay for another course though. I can simply keep my Noom app and just go back to day 1 if I wanted or needed to refresh myself. 👍1
