@oldDogBarking completely agree on “Sandstorm” I love songs like that when working out, especially when they’re longer and help pass the time2

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? 2 mile treadmill run + 24 minutes of strength this morning.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yep and under
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes!
This is the time of year when my gluten allergy literally becomes my "super power." No matter what junk is in the work kitchen, or treats I'm offered, I can easily turn a blind eye to it or say no. Normally I hate my allergy, but right now it comes in super handy.7 -
Pass #1. 80 Cal over, though still on track to lose weight.5

craigo3154, I wanted to pick both insightful and inspiring on your post. 👍🏻

Yes x3. Cardio kickboxing.
I started tracking on mfp to lose baby weight after #2. Lost it all and nearly 20lbs more and then got pregnant again. Mfp again helped me lose the weight. I’ve come back here and there over the years to keep my 10lb swing in check. I enjoy working out but I also enjoy eating.. so sometimes I need some accountability and a reminder of portion sizes (especially as a stay at home mom who loves to bake... always something tempting around!)6 -
As I write this the sweat is still rolling down my face... I was pretty tired, but still had not got the daily exercise in so down to the basement I go and climb on the ‘mill to get it in. It’s too early in the month to ring up pass day #2 especially December.
Exercise: Y 10K steps including 32 min @6% & 3.8 mph

I think I may have recovered today from my dietary indiscretion Friday loading up on carbs. I knew that cost me a few pounds of retained water. I’m pretty sure I lost 4 lbs of water today. Hopefully back on the downward trend scale wise. I still have a fair bit to accomplish before I can claim “maintenance “.6 -
Pass Day #2, no exercise, over calories. I was really tired, needed a day off everything. Did a washing though and defrosted the freezer. I can now start restocking it with healthy food! Working all week, will try and keep on the straight and narrow, walk at lunch time, no easy stodge meals when I get home too tired to cook, no glasses of wine because I worked so hard. ..4

Yes x3 today!
I started because I've struggled with 30 extra lbs after having my two kids, my youngest is 2 now and I made a promise to myself when I moved to BC that my lifestyle would change to reflect and set an example of what I want for my girls.4 -

Why did I begin changing my eating Jan 1, 2016?
I’m not quite sure LOL I’ll blame the brain fog I had from chronic kidney disease.
Seriously though, I was gaining a couple of pounds a month, was out of shape (euphemistically named “reconditioned”), and I had cut way back on work.
We spent Xmas break 2015 Decluttering & organizing our (mostly) unused kitchen as we ate out a lot while I was working more than full time.
Now was the time.
I laughingly told myself, you’re gaining a couple of lbs a month, so give yourself 2-3 years to learn how to slowly change your habits & lose. I laughed out loud - no way it would take 3 years!!!
I spent the first month focused on eating at home & portion sizes & went from there.
Baby habit changes... work!
The other reason I began is I’d read even losing 5% of your body weight yields health gains. So my first goal was 216 lbs. then another 5% etc. got off the bp meds...
And guess what? It took one month shy of 3 years! 😁6 -
3 x’s yes. Hour long strength class and good on calories. Everything logged.
It’s weird how I’m starting to forget exactly how it all started 2.5 years ago. The general idea is that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was newly married facing what should be the happiest time of my life but I was miserable with myself. The perspective of two years of health and losing about 100lbs, I can’t believe the difference. Lol most couples talk about getting married and letting themselves go- my husband and I did the exact opposite because we want to be together for a long time!4 -

Okay, it's a Monday in December. In addition to the falling snowflakes, all kinds of tasty JUNK is falling around us: cookies; snacks; and other unnecessary but tempting JUNK.
Let's hold it together and remember why we started on our healthy habits journey...why did you start?
Rick
@RangerRickL Great reminder. Forgot to answer the question why did I start.
July 2019 I changed my food and exercise and began to lose weight. I was obese, looked bad in my clothes, and my blood pressure was too high. I don't want to start taking medicine for a problem I can turn around myself. Since then, I've reached a normal weight and my BP is mostly in the normal range, but still spikes higher.5 -
Exercise: Yes. Not intentional exercise, but I am counting 2 hours food prepping and cleaning followed by 10 minutes stretching. Apart from other items made for stocking the freezer, I experimented with making protein bars, good for a first try, but I will keep working on it.
Calories:Yes, under
Tracked:Yes
I’m finding it challenging to write my “why” - too many reasons to capture here - but it comes down to, Life! I’ve been gifted with wonderful physical health and I don’t want to squander it. Mental health is a different story and I struggle, daily. MFP/UAC started as a challenge in discipline and resilience for me. Could I stick with it, not give up when success markers weren’t met? It’s been 122 days and I haven’t missed tracking once. Have I been frustrated, impatient, and depressed with my progress and the process? Absolutely. But I am still here and that’s a milestone for me.5 -

Want to lose weight for my health. I had a blocked bowel and am obese and other health issues, a wreck 😬
Was over 200lb but now 177.4 . Still far to go but working in it 🙂. Down and downward with the help of this wonderful group. Thankyou Rick.
Have a wonderful day everyone .5 -

Didn't have time to add my comment on how I started so adding that now. I've enjoyed reading everyone's stories! Very motivating and inspiring!
For me I was always on the slim side until around age 27. Then my eating habits and slowing metabolism caught up to me and I gained about 35 pounds, keeping that on for maybe two years. I knew it wasn't great, but it took seeing a photo of myself to realize how different that extra 35 made me look. I was also noticing some small health changes, like tight hips, feeling more sluggish, and more pressure on my joints and feet. I lost about 10 lb and then found MFP. Since then I've lost 25 more lb over a few years. I'm now lower than I was when I was 27 and am focused on the last few pounds and body recomposition as I work out more. I like the UAC because it's helping me get some of these long-term habits ingrained so I'll be ready for maintenance when that comes. I feel great and am so thankful for all the support on MFP!3 -
