There is a joke in our culture that no one wants to read the directions. To help each of us, I am going to share a part of the UAC FAQs
1. Do I have to lose weight in order to win the Ultimate Accountability Challenge?
No. You just need to exercise every day, eat within your calorie budget every day, track everything you consume every day for the entire month and check in at least every three days.
2. If I'm trying to maintain or gain weight, can I join the Ultimate Accountability Challenge?
Yes. Although many people who join this challenge are trying to lose weight, those who want to use this challenge to gain or maintain weight are welcome. Members still need to exercise, have a calorie goal, track everything consumed and report for every day of the entire month.
3. What counts as exercise?
Nearly all physical activity counts as exercise. That includes walking, cleaning your house, playing tag with the kids, walking your dog, etc. This doesn't mean you should do the bare minimum every day if you're capable of much more. If you want results, you have to challenge yourself, but for the purpose of the Ultimate Accountability Challenge, 20 minutes of any kind of exercise will suffice.
4. What if I only go five calories over budget? Or one calorie over budget?
We are all adults here. Frankly, it's up to you to make your own decision about your calorie limit and then adhere to your own rules. You keep track of your own days and your own fulfillment of the Thoughtful Healthy Habits of the UAC.
5. What if I forget to track something I've consumed, but I remember later and update my food diary?
If, for any reason, you forget to include something in your food diary, but you later remember, you should add the item to your food diary.9 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes 100 minutes walk, 30 minutes weight training
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes with deficit
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes and hit 2 litres of water yay!8 -
Yes x 3 (walked 5km in 40 mins - hills).
Thank you for all the messages of encouragement yesterday. UAC is part of my support.
@RangerRickL. Love the graphic (and the FAQ's on the guidelines of the challenge/group).
Something I've always known, but really helped today was making time to go for a walk (as I really did not feel like it before I went). Felt SO MUCH better after having been.
Motion creates emotion (also helps alleviate bad emotions).

I've been thinking of giving up white rice, which I usually have with fish and tofu dishes, which I make often and love the taste of.
The bad news was that the new fish recipe I tried tonight was way too spicy. The good news is that I was so preoccupied with cooling off my mouth with water that I totally bypassed the bed of rice on which I'd put it!
Got in a good workout. My weight hasn't changed since yesterday, but I did significantly better than then in the nutrition department today. We'll see!5 -
My watch claims I burned more calories than I ate, so technically I could call this a win today. I logged all my food and started my day at gym doing rehab for my shoulder, so I definitely got those 2 right, but no matter what my watch says, my goal is to eat 1600-1800 calories (I'll push it to 2000 for various reasons) but over 2500 is too much for me so pass day 1 it is.
I'm surprised that my watch thinks driving is exercise, but I will admit to being exhausted by it, which is why I ate badly. I was going to eat when I got back but was low on energy which would potentially lead to falling asleep driving. I could have made better choices on what I bought but I didn't and then we did pizza for supper because I was already over.
I did however save a little turtle and a day old seal puppy who will be hand raised now. Adorable little one who it was worth giving up a day of leave for.8 -

December 2nd
Exercise: Yes, managed a 30 minute walk at lunchtime, then 15 minutes more for a dash to the cash point and some shopping.
Calories: Yes, stayed under, thanks to my pre-prepared lunchbox. Didn't go out for dinner with my colleagues, but did have the two small glasses of white wine which I'd already budgeted for, in case I had gone out with them.
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
@craigo3154 My thoughts are with you. I tried to help my youngest son during the worst times of his depression, for ten years, off and on, and it was difficult to see him in this dreadful state. I cannot even begin to imagine how you feel about your daughter. My son is doing fantastically well now, although depression never really goes away, but he has coping strategies now and can manage the bad days. I'm sure your daughter will also get to that point, eventually.11 -

@lotta7e. You would know by your tracking how many calories white rice has in comparison to other foods. If you give it up, what would you have in it's place?
Best strategy I've found for me is not to "give up" foods, but to find preference alternatives. This way if you REALLY want food X, you can still have it in moderation. It no longer has the allure of "forbidden fruit".
As you are focusing on weight, I highly encourage the preference approach.
Lastly, weight will change daily. Up and down. The best way to see if weight is really changing is the average of 7 days (weight each day for 7 days, add together and divide by 7). If this average is trending in the right direction all is good, otherwise make SMALL changes and continue to observe.
Like the sound of spicy fish . I, and the rest of my family, have quite a high spice tolerance. Consequently we preference spicy foods (Indian, Korean, Portuguese, etc..). Chilli, kanye pepper, etc.. are staples in my wife's cooking.7 -
3x’s yes. Snow day! Gym opened late and closed early with no classes. I’m counting 3hrs of shoveling as my exercise.
The snow was so heavy and piled so high by 7am that the snow blower could not handle it. It took me 3 hours to do all of the sidewalks and paths. Lol I flagged down a plow guy driving by and paid him to do my giant U shaped driveway.
Tomorrow morning shouldn’t be as bad but truthfully I didn’t mind the work, it was a really good full body workout.
Logged and good on calories.10 -
