We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for September are below:
Monday - 88olds (George)
Tuesday - Imastar2 (Derrick)

Friday -
Today’s topic: Your Recorded weight history WW or MFP.
Do you ever go back and scroll down your weight history or look at the graft(s) ? Why do you do that if you do? and does it have any effect on your LTL journey.

I do look back on occasion. I no longer have WW, so don't have access to my original data, but I've used MFP on-and-off for a few years. On the phone app I can see my entire MFP history. It's actually a pretty funny pattern. Each time I restart using MFP, my weight is on the high-side, and then it generally tracks down into a lower range. Then I give up and there's no data for a while. When I restart, the same pattern emerges.
I guess that that tells me is that when my weight gets too-high I freak out and restart focusing via MFP. Over time I get bored, or whatever, and fall back-off again.
I'm sure there's a lesson here, but converting that lesson into activity is more challenging.
I also note that this is the longest period of reasonably consistent weight-tracking I've had on MFP (closing in on a year now). I watched my weight go from "high" to "medium," hang around at medium for a while, and slowly creep back up to "high" again! Ugh!0 -
I don’t. The last couple of years there’s no record. I haven’t kept it. I’ve use the MFP food diary off and on but don’t use it to track my weight.
But I know the general picture. Two significant downward trends years a part resulting in a 100 lb loss. One significant episode of gaining for about 8 months in the middle. Not above 186 lbs since 2006. Sometimes it helps in the day to day to consider the big picture.1 -
I do use the history and refer to it quite often. I reflect back to it and look at the graph and really am amazed looking at it. It makes me realize that my weight journey is anything but a straight line. I knew this but it's always good to refer to it and think what was I thinking during the lows and the highs.
It does help me because I feel looking at it gives me pause to think and reflect. I also use the notes section as well. I post the times of my meals as this seems to give me a record to check and see if times of meals effects anything. Don't really have that all figured out just yet.0 -
I used to but haven't for a while. But I haven't been actively focused on my weight for a few months now due to other health issues. But I found it helpful and motivating.0
