I just came off birth control and am also freaking out just slightly. For me, whenever I'm off birth control I experience spotting and irregular periods, so I'm also wondering if it will be a while to conceive. I'm still about 10- 15 pounds off where I wanted to be and I'm going to keep at that until I know for sure I'm pregnant. At least I know I lost about 25 pds, so I figure if I'm careful I won't get much higher than where I was at the beginning of last year! Hope your freak out has calmed down a little! :-)

Thank you for your encouragement @VoicedJoy22 😊 Congratulations on losing 25lb! That’s such great achievement! I have also been so irregular since going off hormonal bc about 6 months ago so not sure how things will go, fingers crossed it’s not too long for us though. I think that sounds like a sensible plan to keep losing gradually until you know you’re 🤰I will hope to follow that path too. Good luck with the next few lbs 😊

I am still working on losing weight while TTC. My doc told me as long as I am not working out so hard or be so restrictive that i lose my period then I'm ok. And im never that extreme. I also want to make sure im on a good routine and my body is used to it so I can continue through pregnancy.

As far as "how" are we doing it? We are not going to overthink it. We are just bding a lot through the month. I feel like tracking everything else makes the process to painful and stressful which will hinder our happiness and affect our chances. I only track my periods and when we bd

I'm still working on losing weight while TTC, although I'm not actually succeeding. Period just started today, so I guess I have at least one more month :| Unfortunately, my last cycle was only 24 days long. They keep getting shorter and shorter which isn't great for TTC.

@puffbrat My problem before I went on birth control was really frequent periods, so coming off of it, that's my fear as well. I'm trying to give myself a few months at least for my hormones to level. I read in a few places that red raspberry leaf tea may help with regular periods, so I'm even going to try that for a little while.

I'll have to give that a try. Before birth control, my cycles were 21 days long with 7-8 day periods. Thankfully my periods are still really short (shorter than ever actually) but it seems like my cycle is getting really short again, which I do not approve of

How's everyone doing? I'm in the same boat with not having lost enough weight here lately as I'd like to for TTC. I might have to start working out at home since all gyms are closed too.

@puffbrat Sooo, I totes know how you feel. After I posted last time, I ended up with a surprise 21 day cycle with only a 9 day luteal phase. boo! So last month I bit the bullet and got more progesterone cream. Got my luteal phase out to 12 days that way. But, I totally missed the BD window because I ovulated on CD 12 instead of CD 15-17 as far as I can tell! We were super busy too because the hubs pirate band had a big show for St. Patty's Day performing Irish music at a brewery. So I'm gonna be more proactive with OPKs this month.

I read this research study where they found that most women ovulate 1/2 a day BEFORE their OPK peaks, so while the LH levels are on the rise, NOT after peak OPK. Maybe I've been missing my fertile window by a couple days all along and that's making things harder for me? I'm going to try to BD earlier this time. Here is a link to the study in case any of you ladies want to read it. https://obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1471-0528.2001.00194.x It had a small sample size so it may not be crazy accurate. But the findings seem pretty legit. Ovulating so early is worrying me though. It could potentially be a sign that my egg reserve is getting low, that I could be getting to perimenopause and releasing eggs that are not mature enough to be viable. Or it could be just random. I'm probably overthinking. But, my BBT plummeted today on CD 5, so I bet I'm gonna ovulate early again. Wish me luck. It would be nice to have prenatal appointments and birth in the same fiscal year.

Hi all 👋 hope everyone’s doing ok with everything that’s going on in the world at the moment.
We started TTC for real at the beginning of March, have gone through one ovulation period (only tracked on Flo though, not opk so don’t know if it was that accurate). Did a fair bit of BD though ☺️ on 2 week wait now, probably just imagining things but I have been extra tired and scatter brained, have a very strong sense of smell and have been getting a bit nauseous but at random times of day. We will see!

Good luck Alioth! I also worry about my egg reserve, especially since early onset menopause runs pretty strongly in my family. I haven’t been using OPKs but will probably start, so that article is helpful. Based on other symptoms I think I actually ovulate 2 days later than Ovia says, which sucks. I’m at the point of wanting to see the OB/GYN, especially since I’m 35 and this is cycle 9, but now obviously isn’t a good time for non-essential doctor appointments.

@puffbrat Riiiight. I'm staying as far from every doctor's office as I can right now. And I know what you mean about looking at app data with a suspicious eye. I second guess my apps all the time. The OPKs are usually helpful for me. I started out with dollar tree ones, then eventually got a big pack of cheapies off ebay so they only cost 34 cents each. Two years later, I'm still working my way through the pack and they still work. haha.

I'm cautiously optimistic this cycle. All my temps and dates look waaaaay better than they have for the last 3 months. Maybe the prenatal vitamins and supplements are actually helping? Temps are rockier than they've ever been though due to stress and weird wakeup times. But they rose really well. 2WW is flying by.

@sarawilliams5889 Oh, that all sounds very promising. Good luck!

Welp, I was right. I was diagnosed yesterday with diminished ovarian reserve. I contacted my doctor and she emailed me some questions and ran some blood work, while also having me do OPKs and chart BBT. Three of my levels are all indicative of diminished ovarian reserve and she said I will have difficulty getting pregnant without assistance.

I don’t want to do IVF and my husband is fine with that. I may contact one of the fertility specialists my doctor recommended for a consultation to find out if IVF is the only option for us. But at this point my husband and are thinking we are either one and done or will adopt. We don’t want to foster because besides being hard on hubby and I, we don’t think baby Leo or Waldo would do at all well with that level of instability and change.

Thanks! I’m so conflicted. I hated pregnancy and was somewhat traumatized by labor and delivery through no fault of any person. But once we decided to start trying, I became excited about doing it again, watching belly grow, feeling movements, and having a baby from second 1 knowing I made that. But I also like the idea of not starting out parenting a new child while recovering from pregnancy and birth or major surgery like last time. As my husband said, I also like the idea of feeling like we can help 1 or 2 children in need. But especially with older children, adoption has its own struggles. One and done would be the easiest path at this point but we don’t know yet if it’s the right one for us.

@puffbrat I'm sorry, that sucks! We could get pregnant but between eclampsia at 28 weeks the first time and pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks the second, we didn't feel safe to have more.

My husband and I have had the adoption debate again and again. It's a hard decision to make. In the end we decided not to as I'm really happy with our family the way it is. I rather like the freedom of knowing we're done and I don't want to start over again!

I hope you get some answers from the fertility specialist if you decide to speak with them.

Hey all. Sorry I've been MIA so the past several months. UGH. I wish I could say I'm here with happy news, but TTC has been a bust. My cycles have been all over the place. My last cycle was 59 days which was so bad that I actually went to my OBGYN to get checked out (despite how much of a nightmare it is to do Doctor's appointments right now). It turns out my thyroid levels are off and I have subclinical hypothyroidism. My OB wants me to stop TTC until we can get my thyroid levels to where they are supposed to be, so now I'm going to be on thyroid meds probably for life. :( On the bright side my OB was optimistic that we would probably get things regulated within 6 months and that I should be able to start TTC again by winter. Fingers crossed.

@puffbrat I'm sorry to hear about your reduced fertility. I hope you and your family find a course of action that works for you. I totally get not wanting to do IVF. I find the idea of fertility treatments very intimidating myself.

Happy 4th of July! @puffbrat How has it been the last couple months? That was some hard news, but doesn't sound impossible. But I also am not sure I would choose fertility treatments.
@arendiva I'm glad you got your thyroid checked. Maybe on the medicine you will find things improve and the cycles settle down. Hoping for the best!

I’m curious about everyone’s weekly goals- are people doing 2 lbs, 1 lb etc?

I’m worried that at 2 lbs- might be too extreme when I read that having too high of a calorie deficit can negatively impact fertility.

    What’s everyone’s experiences?

Hi everyone, just joined the group also. I've been reading this thread and wow, some of you have had a real rollercoaster by the sound of it. Hugs to you guys who are struggling xx
I am trying to lose some weight before starting TTC first time - hopefully in October I will come off the pill.
I am in the obese BMI range (just about) so I'm a bit nervous about how that might affect me/ baby if I get pregnant at my current weight.
So I'm currently just trying to stick to around1500 cals a day and do gym workouts when I can, and seeing what I can lose! I have no particular weight goal, just trying to get in better shape for pregnancy.
If anyone here wants to add me as a friend, feel free :)

@procolorer yeah I can never maintain a 2lb a week loss. My body really likes 0.75-1 lb a week, which can still be pretty fast. I would be worried about depriving my soon to be pregnant self of too many nutrients at a 1200 cal goal since I do need some junk food to stay on course.

We decided to ttc for 2 cycles and re-evaluate after that. Currently waiting 2 weeks starting today to see what happened. I've let my eating of chips and snacks get out of control so I'm trying to find my balance again while I wait for results.

Aiming for 1800 a day since I've gained 6 lb over the last 2 months... hitting closer to 2100 the past couple but its more about not continuing to put weight on before anything even happens.

Still 6 more days of waiting to see if we had success with ttc this cycle. I'm finding it hard to be motivated to track my calories, mostly recipes. I need to just come up with a meal rotation so I can just punch in the same calories over and over. Stupid variety lol.

Hi @melichalupa ! Welcome. This group somewhat petered out during Covid and what not last year. But some of us still check in occasionally as it's a very special place for us where we shared our struggles together. Who knows, maybe more people will join and it will be that place again. I'd love to hear more about your 6 year journey. I love NYC too. I have family in Long Island. Let us know how it goes with your IUI.
