Living the Lifestyle Thursday Dec 26th

We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for December are below:

Monday-88Olds(George)

Tuesday-Imastar2(Derrick)

Wednesday-GavinFlynn1(Gavin)

Thursday-Podkey(Bob)

Friday-myallforjc(Bill)

Topic of the Day: Hashing over the Holiday Hash and surviving it all:
How's it going?

Hard to get outta bed today. I enjoyed seeing GadgetgirlIL talking about the 75 to 77 year olds as having an early demise. Yea I have heard 90 is the new 60 but not sure if that is a good or bad thing in my warped mind

Anyhoo for many folks this is the day after Christmas, Boxing Day for some but part of a string of events going through to the New Year also including the 8 days of Hanukkah.

I didn't do very well yesterday and ate way too much stuff that was pastries for the kings and more.

I am up and moving and will ride my bike to a morning yoga class today. A good start to the day. My daughter surprised me very much when she said she was looking to join WW and also change up her workout routine too.

I did ... ok. Pretty good, actually. We have fewer sweets and pastries in the house this year. It was interesting to note that our lovely Christmas dinner was (a) real food, (b) without bread/rolls, and (c) without dessert. Real food. Nice! And I got outside for a long walk with family. All in all, a very nice day that has me smiling still!

I’ve noticed that I’m getting better at moderation. Serving myself less has become a habit, and I’m not late-night raiding the fridge as much or at all lately. It feels less effortful, which (while not a word) reminds me how I felt when I was at lifetime. I still have a ways to go, but I’m feeling more hope/confidence lately.

You know that thing on MTM Show where Lou Grant says something to MTM like: You got spunk. I hate spunk?

I think I hate special. The gym has a special holiday calendar. One of my exercise classes had a party.
Hum bug. I want my routine back. I think I have a pumpkin pie hangover.

DH & I had planned to have a late lunch at the upscale Chinese place on Christmas. DH thought it would be less crowded at 2:30pm. HA HA HA. We were originally told the wait was 40 minutes for a table. It turned out to be well more than an hour. Then once seated the waiter informed us that anything other than what was on the Dim Sum menu would be at least another 40 minutes. Ugh. So DH had the BBQ pork buns and I had some egg drop soup. Then we went to Walgreens on the way home and DH got a frozen pizza. I already had a Daiya GF/DF pizza in our freezer. So that was our Christmas meal, frozen pizzas.

The piece of GF/DF chocolate layer cake that I had gotten at a new GF bakery was very good.

Today I got a bunch of errands run in record time since the stores I needed to go to weren't any that after Christmas shoppers were heading to. Now I'm waiting on the carpet installers to show up at our rental property. It is a gorgeous day (high is supposed to be 60!) so when they finally show up, I'm going to get outside and sweep out the garage. This warm streak will be ending overnight.

On the struggle bus. Ate some junk food and didn’t really enjoy it. Skipped my official WI @ WW on Thursday. Home scale was at .5 below GW but not dressed.
Missed my usual aqua aerobics classes too.
2020 I have surgery for slipped disc 1/22 not a happy camper.
Need to pull myself up and carry on.
