Living the Lifestyle MONDAY 13 January 2020

We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Topic of the Day: Are Two Days Different?

Do you behave differently the day BEFORE and the day AFTER your official WI?

Do you take precautions or celebrate the results?

I have paid the price for some dumb decisions eating the night before WI. Remember eating PB and crackers and getting on the scale to regret that. I’m sure it was sodium and temporary gain but never again. Same goes for Chinese food. I am more diligent knowing if the WI May be up.

On the other hand I still try to remind myself to not reward myself with food. Like a bag of cashews that I will eat just a few never works out that way.

The Thursday WI keeps me focused after Sunday. I know the Friday/Saturday after WI can be tempting to go off the rails. The struggle will always be there but can be overcome.

Absolutely! I seldom eat/drink over my daily allotment on Thursdays, and, almost always, loosen the reins on the weekend.

Maintaining now without official WI day.

But when I started, WI day was lunch out with my son. It was the day I got tortilla chips. It wasn’t celebrating, but I had a newly recharged WPA account. I wasn’t one to let points burn a hole in my pocket.

I didn’t do anything special day before. I did notice if DW and I went out to dinner, losses were likely to be smaller. Even when everything was right with the numbers.

When I started WW - oh so many years ago - I found a lot of success; and, on WI day, I'd allow myself a lot of leeway. Unfortunately, that one cheat day became two became a week became life.

I don't do that any longer. I do, however, examine each meal opportunity based on its own merits, and I occasionally do indulge a bit - regardless the day.

No not really. I no longer WI at WW but the only difference is it it harder to WI at about the same time and circumstances each week, and I often forget, like last week.

Yes but not always. I to like @Jimb376mfp tried a few stupid things the day or night before WI. Never came out very well. DW is also mindful that Friday's is my WI morning so she's a big help also.

The evening after or day after I have truly treated differently in the past. However I'm really in the loss mode currently. Onward and downward.
