Seeing a psychologist

Has anyone ever seen a psychologist for their ED? I’m starting soon, I’ve had my assessment and starting sessions soon.

The main thing I got from it was that somehow my focus needs to shift from my goal of being thin, to being healthy. This is huge for me, I think it will take a long time. I’ve been obsessed with thinness since I was 9.

I’ve stopped measuring and she’s encouraged me to minimise my time in front of the mirror as I spend ages pinching and criticising.

I had an awful episode over the weekend where I couldn’t stop binge/purging and started to think it was all hopeless and I had to end it all. I’m past that now and back to logging but the amount I’m eating means I’ll only be losing like 100g a week!

Anyway sorry for the ramble. I’d just really like to hear from anyone who’s seen a psychologist and how it worked for them.
