This photo is very typical springtime scene here in the Sonoran desert. I don't know the name of the yellow flowers but they are prolific.
Now the weather is getting progressively warmer ranging from 70 F to 83 F. or 21 C to 28.3 C.
Delightful days for hiking in the desert.
Hope that you get outside safely today!

Just when I though yesterday was tough, then there was today.
Thank goodness for family.
In short, I had a mini-stroke in my right eye yesterday. Can still see OK. The biggest concern is that I have such limited vision in the left eye that if I were to lose sight in the right I would be legally blind.
Entire day going first to optometrist, then the eye and ear hospital (40 minutes away). 10:00am start, 9:00pm when I finally got home.My wife has been amazing. She drove me round to the appointments today as I would not be able to drive home. Pretty much gave up an entire day for me.
The mini-stroke happened around 1:00pm yesterday. I though it was a stray hair falling across the eye, but it was not cleared by blinking or cleaning my glasses. I noted it as odd, and researched what it may cause a sudden shadow in the vision (like a light over-exposure that does not fade).
I also discussed this with my wife on our walk yesterday, but had not looked into causes at that stage, so had no idea of how serious it could be.
My research suggested a few causes, none of them nice, all to be treated as an emergency and urgent consultation with an eye specialist was a essential. Nearest eye specialist was only open next morning so I resolved to call an make an appointment as soon as possible next day if no improvement overnight. Did not want to alarm family, so only told them what was I was doing (in a calm, rational manner) the next morning after appointment made.
Optometrist could not find cause, so referred me to eye and ear hospital 40 minutes away. 8 hours later, after 2 more eye examinations (from 3 specialists), blood tests, ECG test and a CT scan the cause was found. Still need to have a ultrasound to check the carotid arteries and more blood tests.
My total cholesterol is high, but no break down to hard LDL, soft LDL, HDL and triglyceride was done, so this measurement on it's own is near useless.
Blood pressure was well in the normal range (110/69 - but they only tested it once), and this is while when I should have been most stressed.
I will not take cholesterol medication that may lower blood pressure until more checks are done. (Also my mother has a bad (near fatal) reaction to the statin they prescribed).
Looking at getting a personal blood pressure monitor so I can track changes (if any).
Kookaburra photos (as promised)
This is on the balcony at home. Three of them come in for feeding daily. All will perch on an arm now to take food from me or my wife.

@epangili. We try feed the Kookaburra's thinly sliced beef heart if we can get it (like small lizards and snakes to them). Otherwise it is minced meat.
Kookaburra's are carnivores. They keep the snake population non-existent in our area (which is great considering what Australian snakes are like). 20 years next to a forest and not seen one.
We purposefully feed them only a little. They need to be able to hunt to survive.10 -

@craigo3154 there I was scrolling through yesterday thinking “what a tease!!!! No pictures!!!”While you were off with a medical emergency.Glad you are ok.
Today was a three times yes. Today was my grocery shop day and I made the decision not to buy anymore halo top or peanut butter. They are my comfort foods.
1/2 hour run this morning followed by an hour of virtual yoga class, my instructor focused in on stretching and recovering my running muscles which felt really good since I am a new runner.
I’m trying to motivate to do some strength and a walk in the evening but I’m having a hard time with that.12 -

@craigo3154 what neat birds! I love these images! I was saddened to read about your eye. Lots of good vibes and prayers coming your way. So glad your wife was able to be there for you.
@davert123 beautiful photo!
Here is my contribution to spring photos:
This is my new herb garden. My husband thought it would be easier for me to have them in a planter box rather than assorted pots around the deck. I do have a chocolate mint plant in a separate pot because mint is so invasive. Shown are oregano, Thai and sweet basil, cilantro and rosemary. Not seen, but planted in a row behind the plants are sage seeds. It felt so good to be out in the warm weather with my hands in all that warm soil!

Thanks to the Gulf Stream, you UKers are farther north than me, yet milder temperatures already. Beautiful butterfly.
I have a rabbit that keeps returning to our back yard. Sometimes it plays "I am rock....I am a rock ... you cannot see me because I am a rock ... " as we watch it from the back bay window.8 -
Did I exercise at least 20 minutes? Yes! Did 108 minutes of ping pong via VR. Not the highest calorie burn, but I am easing back into things like boxing. Two separate sessions bagged me 455 exercise calories. 🤗 Tomorrow or Thursday looks to be tilling the garden space and planting zucchini and yellow squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, and hopefully corn.
Did I stay under calorie goal? Yes, by several hundred. Will be happy when my appetite comes back just a bit more.
Did I log everything? Yup!
No passes used. 💪
Mixed blessing, I may be going back to work on what hds originally been the start of my three day Easter weekend. 🤷♀️7 -

Worked out before my infusion. I was terrified going in but calmed down with all the safety protocols at the hospital. I am so appreciative of everyone on the front line. I feel so guilty that I can’t be out there with everyone out there taking care of everyone and keeping the world going. I am humbled and ever so thankful.7 -
