💚
But today it was in mid 90’s
I always struggle during these hot months.
Not, This. Time.
I will at least make progress on my summertime habits
Things I’m thinking of trying
Split my walk/hikes to morning & late evening to avoid UV & heat.
Cut my calories by 109-200 a day as my
Body doesn’t have to do as much heating
Up water - have begun this already: 15 cups instead of my 9-12.
My thought yesterday was perhaps I feel hungrier because...
I’m Actually thirsty
OR
I’m uncomfortable in the heat so I return to food for solace
SO last night, after a difficult work phone call, I went into a dark room, prayed a bit & did deep breathing & thought of things I was grateful for & said some of them outloud.
Felt much better than diving in the pantry.

My recipient was told to avoid sun as he is a higher risk for skin cancer on his antirejection meds, I'm guessing the same applies for you. Granted South Africa is a pretty hot country so I'm sure it is less of an issue in some cooler areas of the world. Gratefully that I got to be on the donor side of transplant so I can enjoy my hot African sun with normal precautions in my daily life (which does include swimming with seals...)1 -

@Dory_42
Yes! You are lucky!
I know folks of Irish descent, like me, are at highest risk & I did have a basal cell cancer removed from nose after a year of lots of bike riding (with slathered sun screen)...
So I’m always careful. I check the UV index & only walk when it’s a 1 or 2 max & have spf shirt and wear sunscreen & a hat
I’ve been told for each immunosuppressant we are on, our risk of cancer doubles
However... this is all doable & if I should get skin cancer 8 know there is lots they can do if caught early. I have frequent skin checks!
Ty again for being a donor. It’s life changing receiving a donated kidney in many ways. You definitely gave the Gift of Healthy Life. I’m Beyond Grateful every day to my donor!!!5 -
@MadisonMolly2017 Where in the world are you at 90 degrees? I'm driving home from Arizona which is now ranging from 90 to 107. But Illinois is unseasonably cool are extremely rainy.0

Thank you & bless you, Rick,0 -
@MadisonMolly2017, that heat wave of yours is caused by overly warm Pacific Ocean water. You get the heat wave, that pushes the Artic jet stream in a easterly direction and for the second year in a row, in the Midwest, we are being flooded with torrential rains. I just got home to the farm this evening.0

@RangerRickL Glad you guys are home safe - must have been some drive with flooding.
Good news- it am was only in 80’s today so relief should be heading your way!0 -
@MadisonMolly2017, This morning, I was out with the horses for 2 hours. I'm in shape for hiking in the desert, but not for cleaning up manure and working horses in the sand of the arenas. My butt and calves are sore tonight.
The weather was sunny in the a.m., and then while I was doing legal work remotely, the temp dropped into the high 60's.

@RangerRickL
I hear you!
I decided to change up my routine today with 1.5 Zumba dance online videos and a short fast walk. I’m sore already LOL
I guess we have to mix it up, eh?!
I bet your horses were thrilled to see you !0 -
@MadisonMolly2017 My horses are thrilled to see Fred. He feeds them. Loves on them and never asks them to do any work.
They are not thrilled to see me, but they usually put up with me.
It was a perfect day today and I got out there with them for most of the late afternoon and evening.1
