Rose and I lived in Costa Rica, Central America in 2003-2004. We lived in a rural coffee and sugar cane agricultural area and did language study. We also became very addicted to coffee. We drink Costa Rican coffee most mornings.
What turns on your taste buds in the morning? Coffee? Tea? something else?

@RangerRickL Definitely coffee and I drink varieties from around the world. I lucked out a couple of weeks ago and was in my local grocery store and discovered a Puerto Rican favorite (a standard in homes there)....Yaucono. Lately I have also been enjoying some single-sourced from Papua New Guinea. I also use an old-school, plug in purcolator.
Stacking Rocks.....from yesterday's thread......copied and pasted from Pinterest.
Rock stacking has carried spiritual meaning across cultures for centuries. The act of balancing stones carries with it a practice of patience and a physical effort of creating balance. Each rock can signify an intention of grace for thankfulness, or offered up for another in need.
Please note we should not randomly stack stones because......
Stacked rocks, more commonly known as Cairns, placed along the trail signify that you are on the right track. It is a marker guiding you to the correct path or trail in cases where navigation becomes difficult and the trail may be easily lost.
Happy Friday one and all!4 -
Coffee! I often wake up very early and try and start my day with green tea, possibly based on health freaky ideas (no evidence so far) that they will help weight loss, but I don't really start my day until I have had my coffee. I try and buy Free Trade, Puerto Rico or Colombia, but love the mild Kenyan as well. I drink it black, nothing added. I do drink tea during the day, green and black. I grow my own mint for mint tea. I also make ginger tea sometimes. Occasionally I can't resist a cup of what my oldest son calls British Rail tea: very strong English tea (I bring back British tea bags from UK, as you cannot get anything like them in France), steeped for several minutes with Full Fat milk! Here in France I drink all coffees in restaurants. I rarely have a cappuccino, but when I am in Britain, I occasionally go to Costa Coffee and have a Latte.5

it SNOWED last night! There is WHITE STUFF on the ground out there!!!!5 -
Exercise today was only my 30 minute morning run, but that was followed by work which is pretty physical. Got to swim with the seals and our little puppy came over to me and was more interactive than she has been which is very special.
Good food choices and planning for sushi tomorrow 😁😁😁.
All logged and within goal.
Enjoying a relaxing evening with some series with another 3 days of this work shift to come and a longer run than normal tomorrow.7 -

@BMcC9, I feel for you! We "only" got flurries in the air today...nothing on the ground. But the frost overnight tonight will be detrimental to apple, ginseng and asparagus crops.4 -

Exercise no .... bad back
even if you have to "only cheer us on" because of your bad back ... the tracking and staying under practice will stand you in VERY good stead for the long term!
Take care of that back (as others who have had to come back from illness or injury will reassure you)2 -

Biggest news of the day for me is that the blockage in the artery in my eye seems to have cleared.
The ophthalmologist was unable to see the arterial blockage. Also, the shadow over my peripheral vision in my right eye is much fainter than ever (likely retinal weakness that may fade further). The flash-blindness type streak I used to see with the eye closed is gone.
As it was in my peripheral vision, and it is fading (not suddenly gone completely), I had not noticed it before today. I know it was still there two days ago. But it is not there now.
The blockage was suspected to be cholesterol, and I was told there was slim chance it may clear (but only if I lowered my cholesterol). I was also told that whatever loss in vision I had after 6 weeks would be permanent. Looks like I got to the best case scenario.
Also, my fastest walk to date on the 7.5km trail. Finally beat the 60 minute mark. Only beat it by one second, but I got it under 60 mins. I was late starting and finished in the dark (no street lights in the forest ), but still made it.
I'll take the wins where I can get them.
The family video conference appointment with my daughters mental health clinician did not go so well. The tension between mother and daughter came out (both because they care so much for each other). The clinician could not read the signals over the video link and pushed in the wrong ways. Means I spent a lot of time carefully de-escalating the emotional situation in the house. Both for the end of the call and for the rest of the day.
This means my personal wins for the day are largely unrecognised in the home. So glad I have UAC to share this with. Thank you for reading.craigo3154 wrote: »May 7

mornings it is coffee. afternoon or evenings it is more likely to be UNcafinated tea - like mint ... especially through the late-spring / summer / early fall when i can brew fresh mint leaves from our backyard (or I could buy fresh mint in the grocery store if I wanted it "off season") i discovered this in Winchester uk two summers ago. It is one of the few teas that is as good hot as cold. (with no "iced tea additives" beyond pouring over ice cubes)2
