We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

    Behavior defined :
    [manner of behaving or acting.]

So I guess tracking would be the # 1 behavior for me. Knowing what going in. There's the old saying garbage in garbage put. This starts the journey to begin my necessary basis for losing. This also goes along with having the right attitude for success in achieving my goals.

I'm at the stage with my health situations that I'm beginning to second guess what could be holding me back from losing weight. Not a serious enough concern but enough in my thought process to begin wondering if medications and the taking of them are effecting my downward shift.

I've always heard eat less calories than you burn and you'll lose weight. Well how many calories does a 300 lb man burn in a normal day just say living? So this has me wondering this morning because to my knowledge I have been right around 1700 kcals a day. Some days less some days just slightly more. Is it possible I'm missing something tracking? I have to say yes but not a lot.

So what I'm going to start thinking about is heading off into a binge of studying up again on the various heart drugs I'm taking and see what if anything their effect on my weight journey is.

More to come on this subject for me later.

Consistent use of my food scale.
    Being aware of the numbers.

I don’t track most of the time. But I know the numbers and have a pretty good idea where I stand at any point in the day.

Consistency. Portion control. Being aware of deviations from the plan.

Kinda like 88Olds I know the numbers. Repeat and repeat again and again. Nothing is exactly forbidden but I only usually do pizza a few times a year for example. Weighing and measuring for a long time has greatly improved my "eyes" for food.
