We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Today's Topic: Life in the Covid19 Lane
How are you handling re-entry or restart or whatever it is? (If we’ve been on lockdown are we switching to lockup?) What do you see yourself doing going forward? How does it fit your plan? Better or worse?
Transitions can be rough on weight loss. How is this one shaping up for you?

Right now I’m changing nothing. And don’t plan on changing without a vaccine.
That’s subject to change with more information. Maybe it burns itself out. Maybe a vaccine never arrives.
But for now they will open the gym and restaurants without me. Still pushing back against the calorie creep. But that’s been my life long before covid19.0 -
I've been working offsite since I got back from spring break. The university is having a lot of discussions about what will be done for fall. I work in the biology department so the labs for many of our classes (biology, chemistry, physics, exercise science) do need to be in person. I am the pre-health advisor now so my pre-medical students are very anxious about the fall. If we can't be on campus, then many of them will be delayed in getting the required coursework in. Most medical schools simply will not accept online labs.
I have anxiety about having to meet students in person in my very small and poorly ventilated office. I'm not the only person with this concern. We've provided our feedback and now we await decisions from administration next month.
Other than my work environment, the only other thing that I look forward to resuming is going to my fitness center for strength training. I can wear a mask while doing that.
DH & I both hate crowds and we only went to restaurants a few times a year. DH has not flown since 2003 and has no intentions of ever flying again. I rarely fly and only for business conferences. I'd much rather drive 11 hours that deal with airports, and that was before the pandemic.
I never was one who likes to linger in stores but it would be nice someday to not have to plan trips to the grocery stores, especially Trader Joe's where I always have to wait in line to get in. DH, I'm sure, will be glad when he no longer has to get up super early to go to the grocery store or Wal-Mart. He is a night owl but he is getting up a couple times a week to make those trips. Neither of us have ever been into buying supplies for weeks at a time.0 -
George, ditto. Almost verbatim.
In fact, when we do get called back to WFW, I will ask them to review my output and accuracy since WFH has been in place, I will remind them that without my commuting I have given two extra hours daily to my job and then...if they insist I return, I will give notice.
No job, no amount of social distances, and no adequate protection verses real risk is worth my life or that of those I love. I am fortunate enough to be less than two years from retirement, not a penny in debt, own my home, and have enough savings to coast until then. Very blessed indeed.
Covid and WFH has not affected my diet appreciably.
In fact, in the last two months, I am down 8 pounds.0 -
Well before Covid 19 we had been planning a summer RV trip that would last for about 12 weeks and take us up into Eastern Canada to Nova Scotia, Prince John Island, Montreal Etc. We don't see that happening right now! Even if the border crossings get re-opened the likely hood is that a lot of the places we might want to see will still be closed, and I am not sure I would want to put myself in crowded situations even if they do open, so we have had to rethink our trip. We will start small by taking the RV to a state park just a couple of hours away from us for 4 days next week. After that we will probably be doing some more localized trips for the remainder of the summer.
As for our lives here, nothing much will change for us, I am an early riser so it is no big deal to me to go out for the "senior hours" at the grocery store, Home Depot etc. We have been doing take out dining once a week or so partly to support our local economy and partly to give the chef (that would be me) a break. Even though some resturaunts have opened under some limitations I just don't feel comfortable about putting my self in that situation right now. As for movies, air travel, the gym etc. Not happening till there is a vaccine!0 -
Not much change here. Do get FTF with health providers, and the Dentist offices are preparing to open (I will NOT be the first in line).0

Pretty much what George said. No plans to go to a restaurant. I was investigating gyms before the lockdown, but I won't be re-visiting that idea any time soon. There are plenty of at-home options. Salons are open, but I'm not yet comfortable getting a haircut/color. I may grow my hair indefinitely just because. I don't have much gray, so I've avoided coloring at home.
Our state had adequate test capability for anyone who wants to get tested. DH and I both tested negative. Once more folks get tested on a regular basis, I may venture out more. I mostly miss traveling to visit family. I'm already concerned about the holidays.
I'm doing a lot more cooking at home which is helpful to weight loss. I just need to move more. We do take-out every week or so and have bought a ton of gift certificates to local places. Plan to keep that up.0
