Time for our first Virtual 5K this upcoming weekend, August 23-25! You'll race mostly against yourself, but it'll be great to see where we could be when training more, so please join also if you have finished C25K already!

If you like, you can use this as backbone for your result:

Name:
Gender:
Age:
Level:
Type of surroundings:
Weather:
Date:
Time of day:
Expected time:
Running/walking:
Time:

Level is your subjective perception of where you are.
The type of surroundings could include pavement, trail, flat, hilly; whatever you think is cool to share!
Running/walking could be a verbal description of portion walked versus run or perhaps some calculation even if you're a number nerd.
Add any other info if you want to elaborate.

Let's have some fun!

I am totally in shock and happy! This is my first 5K!!! All conditions were best case scenario. I felt better than I have in weeks, the weather was great, I didn't have to push the stroller, which really helped. The run itself was easy and I had so much energy I ran my faster at the end of the run. It was an awesome day!

Couldn't fit a 5k into my training but this is the first 5k of a 8k slow run. It's only 2 minutes slower than my 5k time so I was happy with that.

Type of surroundings: Wooded trail, grass and road
    Weather: Raining! 14c 88% humidity
    Date: 25/8/2013
Time of day: 8.15am start (well it is Sunday)
    Expected time: under 40min
    Running/walking: Running
    Time: 36.33

I had a brilliant time doing this - it fell in nicely with my programme where I was due to run 3miles so I just tacked on the extra 0.1 to make the 5k.
Only one fly in the ointment was me falling over as I was pressing the lap timer on my watch at the end of the 5k run! I now have the knees of a 6yr old boy with matching scabs forming on my elbow and shoulder ... no one was around to see me do my Bambi on ice impression before gravity finally took over with a final skid on my shoulder for good measure but the dog walker I passed on my cool down walk home gave me a funny look - nothing to do with being coated with mud and pine needles down one side but grinning from ear to ear lol

Level: Week 6 of C25K starts tomorrow
Type of surroundings: small elevations only, some pavement but mostly sand
Weather: fantastic sunshine and a gentle breeze, around 20°C
    Date: 25.8.13
    Time of day: afternoon
    Expected time: 55-60 minutes
    Running/walking: Nordic walking
    Time: 52:43

I did better than expected and it's great to have a square zero in walking; from now on it can only get better when running is added! 5 kilometres feels quite long to me though. Let's do this again!

    Age: 39
Level: Beginner started in Jan 2013. Working on Week 1 of a Hal Higdon Beginner 10K plan.
Type of surroundings: Part bike/hike trail part city streets...mostly flat with some long steady slight grades. Some shade but at least 1/2 blistering sun.
Weather: 81 degrees but only 39% humidity, full sun
    Date: Sunday August 25th
Time of day: started at about 1:30PM
Expected time: I was hoping for 39 mins since my total run was to be be 3.5 miles today
    Running/walking: Running, no walking
Time: 40 flat for the 3.1; 46:16 for 3.51 miles

It was better than I thought considering I was tired before I started. As it happens, I was up until 1Am last night and still got up for church this morning.

I hope you keep doing this. It really motivated me to keep running when I wanted to stop and walk!
