We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday- misterhub (Greg)
Tuesday- whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday-MASSRUNNER (Frank)
Thursday- beachwoman2006 (Cindy)
Friday- imastar2 (Derrick)
Today's topic: Knowledge and Wisdom.
A couple of quotes to ponder and with that being done, how has Living The Lifestyle thread and GoaD helped you navigate your overall weight journey.
"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it into a fruit salad."
"Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living."
Have a good weekend!

Yikes! Where do you start?
Pithy sayings like “There is no finish line, Progress not perfection.
Helping me to learn and unlearn weight loss reality verses generally held myths.
A fairly solid, drama free platform to discuss our weight journey.
A group of strangers that become people who are considered friends albeit online friends.
I’m sure there’s many more reasons that I haven’t been able to express...

I think some, but certainly not all is the sense of community, the no tolerance for BS, an occasional KITA when needed, the scientific bent, lack of girly stuff, shared application of the general 'rules' of weight loss, recipes, no fanciful thinking ... I really 💛 GOAD!2

I got to thinking yesterday about knowing how to do it and learning from GoaD post through the years and then thinking well what have I learned and how has it helped me. Thus the topic came to me. No matter what happens to us outside the realm of our daily weight journey we have to deal with it. How we deal with it is often times the knowledge we've pulled from this GoaD board. The application for me is the wisdom part as gaining a lot of the knowledge here.
We all know or have heard that knowledge without action is useless. So stumbling along the way sometimes on a day sometimes on a month and sometimes much much longer.
The strength to track, eat the right healthy properly portions foods simply has to come to us from somewhere. A great deal of this knowledge for me has come from GoaD albeit our numbers aren't where they used to be the folks who are suppose to be here and want to be here are present.
So showing up here for the LTL thread and listening to others on GoaD deffinitely has helped me feel like at least there's a place I can go vent, ponder, or just wander off in the desert and return another day. Just like today gaining 4 lbs in one day. Was it my scale? I did have to change the batteries this am so was it capunk yesterday and going out. Or was it the 10oz ribeye not trimmed and the loaded baked potato with cooked veggies at 8:30 pm last night. Or was it just my body, heart, pacemaker surgeries and a couple of new medications recently. Who knows but one thing for sure today is a new day and as we say Onward and Downward.
