We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Monday - misterhub (Greg)
Tuesday - Al_Howard (Al)
Wednesday - Wild Card

Today's Topic: Traditions and Holidays
Tomorrow is the 4th plus it's the weekend and many of us have traditions with families, friends. Will you be struggling or breeze through the weekend.

I've got a triple whammy this weekend. Tomorrow Saturday's the Fourth it's the weekend and Monday is my 73rd Birthday. Let me say at 73 your really glad to see another B'day come around.

All joking aside this weekend may be a little different in that I'm really on a roll. Doing my best to keep the calories, the balance the portions all under control. Reall don't want to stretch my stomach and then have dreaded hunger pains but yet there's that little voice inside that wants those extra ribs, potato salad and baked beans.

All in good measure though as the weekend unfolds. My goal is to to at least continue to be consistent and track everything as usual. I'm believing I'll be just fine. As they say I got this. 🙂👍

We're at the cottage (always a challenge) for 5 days! And the menu is not WW friendly (bbq ribs, bacon cheese burgers, lasagna, and fettuccini (I know, the pasta stuff is weird, I had very little input). The only healthy main meal is today, because I am in charge of this one. Having chipotle chicken, black beans, and rice. I'll be adding lots of fruits and veggies, and skipping at least one of the pasta dishes. Add the breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and sausage gravy (i brought some oatmeal 🙄), mom's choc cake, lots of salty snacks, and adult beverages, and to say this weekend will be challenging is an understatement!

Thanks to COVID, we have had no family get togethers for 4 months now. This weekend will be no different.
A good part is that I am involved in caregiving so it’s not that I don’t see my dear Mom and Sister. She will be cooking and I expect there’ll be no difference in the menu. She knows I still track even though she often berates me for being too thin and says I should be increasing portions.
So here’s to another 4th. A different 4th. And hopefully not our last as a Republic.

No gathering here. We don't have food tradition for the 4th. Have enjoyed local fireworks displays.

We're in the same place with get togethers. Our DD was 55 yesterday, and we always had a bash. She popped over for about 2 hours yesterday afternoon, but no eating, drinking, etc.
Tol and I went off the rails with me having 9 Sammys, Weight was only up 0.4#. Not much snackage.
Today will be pretty low key. Sunday will be Mass, and ?????
