Northern/ Outpost Nurses

I'm way up north in Manitoba Canada. Anyone else? I work 2 weeks here, then travel home for 3 weeks. I lead a double life. I have to bring all my food for my 2 weeks of work. So difficult to bring fresh fruits and veggies. I am going for a "salad free" diet plan. I need to loose about 30 pounds. When I work, I work steady. Hard to find time for exercise. When I'm home, I have challenges of raising my 2 boys and trying to cook for them and manage a healthy diet and exercise plan. Weight doesn't drop off me easily at all. So I get easily frustrated. Anyone else with similar challenges?

    Wow, that's some schedule.
I work 2nd shift as a pool nurse at a long term facility six blocks from my house, so I walk to work

My husband works 24-48 hour shifts, so I am often cooking for just my daughter (nine) and myself.
To be honest, I usually don't eat what she does.

I eat Greek yogurt with granola and fruit for breakfast.
For lunch, I have a low fat, low calorie cheese and lunch meat sandwich with skim milk and fruit.
When I work, I take a lean pocket and fresh vegetables along with one Diet Coke and lots if water. :drinker:

Supper at home is more challenging, especially with hubby since he likes a more substantial meal, so then it's more about portion control.
    My weakness is chocolate
I input different supper foods into my food diary to see what will fit with my daily goals.

For exercise, I take classes at the Y in the morning after my daughter goes to school or I go for walks.

Hope this helps a little
