So so happy with this after last weeks gain 😍 wasn’t too sure what I was going to be at today didn’t have the best dinner and was only driving for work today. Ready for an awesome weekend. I’m going to a nearby city. Well almost a three hour drive there but that’s nothing for me. One of my co workers is going with me to pick out a dress for my fiancé’s best friends wedding in September. It’s been a long time since I’ve worn a dress I live in jeans and button ups both at work and on the weekends. I’m excited to get all dressed up though. Going to be doing one boot camp online class and one yoga class too this weekend.

@tryingagain5
I am doing very well in spite of the cancer treatments. Most people I see are surprised at how good I look and act. I haven't suffered with nausea and vomiting (maybe twice since April) and I kept my hair until about a month ago (still have a thin layer). My appetite is still good and I don't get fatigued easily. Pretty much still feeling normal.
Thanks for asking about that.
Glad you are doing so well. Prayers that the treatments work for you and that you continue to do well with them.1 -

Wow! Impressive! I'm not at that level for sure.
Is that a home gym or are gyms open where you are? I miss my gym!
My home gym. I've had it for over 3 years and I love it. I'm not comfortable lifting in front of others, I hate being judged
That's great that you have a home gym! Even if I had the space for it I don't know how motivated I would be to actually use it.
I understand about not being comfortable lifting in front of others. The small gym that I'm a member of actually has great members. Everyone is pretty encouraging of everyone else and supports each other.
Quite some time ago I was working out on my own doing one of my trainer's workouts with dumbells. There were a couple of guys doing a workout the trainer developed for them. They were lifting heavy weights and there I was with 15 pound dumbells.
I laughed and told them I felt like a little kid next to them with my tiny dumbells. They were so encouraging and told me I was doing great and to keep it up. They also said that anyone who walks into a gym to try and better themselves is doing something good, it doesn't matter what size you are or what level you are starting out at.
My gym has some pretty great members.1 -
@tryingagain5 I can’t imagine what small businesses owners are going through right now. Or towns that are still mostly shut down. I’ve been fortunate being in a state where we don’t have the population density as many other states. We are almost back to being open and haven’t had any major spikes. I know one thing I’ve noticed since a lot of companies here shut down the offices to the crews, mine included is people’s moral is at an all time low because we aren’t getting the social aspect. Being in a small town and working mainly on my own throughout the day I looked forward to the morning meetings at the office getting to talk and laugh with co workers. My fiancé has noticed it too at his company where everyone is kinda down. The companies here were like families and they are losing that. I don’t think the bust we had helped any either I still know lots of people who were laid off and I had a guy asking me today if my company was hiring and they aren’t right now. It’s finally starting to pick up but between losing the social aspect and seeing so much of the field shut down ( I think they shut in almost 7,000 wells just here in North Dakota) it was a ghost town it’s been hard on the people here. The shut down and the virus has been so hard on so many people and business.2

@Melzz19
It's got to be so tough for them. My gym's owner just posted something on Facebook today that 40% of them either didn't (meaning they already closed permanently) or when they can open they won't make it. It's really sad. The other thing that has so many people frustrated is that the governor is using something from 1945 and she is making all these decisions in her own, instead of it being a joint decision with others in leadership.
You're right on the social aspect. I was off work for 3 weeks and it was tough. I live alone and the only person I saw regularly while off was the neighbor who I walked with. I'm actually more of an introvert but I do like being around other people too.
I live in a smaller town but it has grown quite a bit since I was young. I still live in the town I grew up in.
That's really sad about the businesses. I work in a factory that produces car mirrors. We went back to work after Easter and it was pretty slow. They would often send people home early. It's gotten much better now. We went from not enough work to so much that they are allowing employees in the plant to work 72 hours a week if they choose to do so. Of course, a lot of people did get laid off or took the voluntary layoff earlier. From what I understand we are about 500 people short company wide. No wonder we're working so much overtime.2 -
@tryingagain5 i can’t imagine working 72 hours in a week I put in a 64 hour week before and it was brutal. I love being in a small town but I’m a long way from home and been here almost two years but so many people move in and out of North Dakota. I’m glad it’s gotten better there though we are slowing getting busy again. I’m a line locator for the oilfield so I mark out lines to make sure they don’t get hit and watch pipeline crossings kinda as a supervisor and as construction shut down they needed less locates. My division alone we had 16 locators and went down to 4 and we have hired one person back and aren’t hiring anymore right now. I don’t think my work will really pick up until spring. Summer is when locators make their money, winter we have maybe enough work for 4-6 hours a day. Summer we normally do 14-16 hours a day but this week I think I only got around 30 hours. I’m staying positive though work is picking up and more people are out and about.1

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes, everyone! I had such a lovely day of treating myself, and most of that wasn't on food, surprisingly! Somehow managed a loss for this morning (although I was definitely dehydrated when I weighed myself due to the lack of water consumption alongside alcohol last night...), so that was a pleasant feeling to wake up with today. Who knew that pampering yourself for once would fill the voids we think we can fill with food???
I audition to be a spin instructor today, and I am beyond nervous, so please please please send me any positive thoughts and psychic encouragement you can muster! Even if I don't end up needing it, it can't hurt. I've taken all of the precautions so far: stretching, plenty of water, lucky new leggings, my face is washed, my hair is magically contained, I'm not sitting for too long at a time... I'm debating going for a walk to try to clear my mind of the self-doubt. It's a big day for my mental health.
@goingape - Oh my goodness, your dogs are precious. How long have you had them?
@sf8813 and @mainebeachbum - Welcome to the team! We're so glad you're going to be joining us. I'll be posting my introduction in the September chat, if you're curious about who I am - please do the same over there so we can get to know you too!

Up a teeny tiny bit but its ovulation time and I also haven't been to the bathroom all week (if you know what I mean lol). Im not worried about it, I've been eating the same as I normally do. Plus I was due for a gain lol. I usually have 1 gain a month.5 -

Tiny loss but I will take it. I think my body is equalizing with having the pill back in my system...or so I’m guessing. Will be interesting to see what happens next month.
I will joining you all next month - goal is to hit my ‘overweight’ bmi number. About 3 pounds away.3 -
Time for a catch-up. I've been missing you all and while I've been reading your posts, I haven't been able to respond due to all this extended family time. So, I end up thinking about you all when I'm serving dinner, sweeping the floor, or brushing my teeth.
I may have to push send before I'm finished, as my grandson is due to wake up from his nap soon.
Welcome @sf8813 and @mainebeachbum. Looking forward to getting to know you both!
@debbiewsharpe As I write this update, I have the team chat open in another browser tab. I'm only able to do this on my computer and I'm using Chrome (though think the Chrome part isn't essential). I often lose everything I've written nevertheless. Also, when I was with my sister, I remembered that you had been to see yours. Then I remembered that even when you traveled to see her, you still had so many footsteps. I so rarely get that many. Although, being up here in Uxbridge at my son's house, I could see getting more in. It's the hiking capital of Canada and far less populated. We keep wandering around, looking at houses with granny flats that are separate from the main house. Very tempting now with Covid.
@Freeglerock Just as Ashley says, it really is in the difficult times that we see what we are made of. Your month ended very well, so take it slow and steadyYou're doing so well. And now running, wow!
@minstrelofsarcasm Thought of you this morning and was sending good vibes for the Spin instructor tryouts. The accomplishment is fantastic just to be invited and for the second time. I love your positivity with MS. Hero!
@melaniedscott Great loss this week. About vertigo and calorie burn, I know of which you speak. I've often wondered if being in a state of vertigo burns more calories. It feels like it to me but I've never found scientific evidence. I have chronic vertigo from Meniere's Disease although it's in remission now. My last bout was from December 17th to March 24th or so. How long has it been for you? I'd joke that it's from all the gardening (ahem weeding) but it's no joking matter.
@sleepymom5 I was so sorry to hear about your mother. I'm glad everything checked out okay, but what a worry. Xavy really needs grooming and I've been doing it myself during Covid. It is quite the production. I'm going to give it another go this evening.
@lennoncpa Glad you found the bright side about nuts. I was thinking about you this week as my 'bites, licks, and tastes' entries had about three to four tablespoons of hummus a few days in a row. There's something so comforting about hummus on a spoon from time to time.
@tryingagain5 What a great conversation with the team about gyms. One of the best things about the group is how far-flung we are. In Toronto, gyms have just been open since August 15th and I have only seen the one near my house with practically no-one inside. Based on that, I'd think it would be relatively safe. It's as you suggested, people who value it highly are there and not everyone is ready.
@pacsnc6 Happy Anniversary! I love your positivity, especially now that we've been restricted by Covid for so long and you've been in treatment all this time. You are so optimistic and resilient, especially now with more pronounced side effects. Hero!
@Cafelelia If there was a place called Manicures and Milkshakes it would be so popular. Something fun to do while your nails dry.
@ljdanny I got a Spin bike used when our community centre was upgrading theirs. Now I use my own bike with the Peleton app and they have really good classes to follow. They have more than just Spinning too. You get your first month free, which is a great way to try it.
More catching up to follow!
Thanks for all your warm wishes about my grandmother. I know I was lucky to have her as long as I did. She was 97. Here she is at the cabin many years ago. My mom is the older child. They are both named Margaret.

The most I've ever worked is 62 hours and that was a couple of years ago. I'm doing about 54 now and am exhausted. I've already decided that next week I'm only going to do the mandatory OT and not the voluntary. My body needs a break.
I've never been to North Dakota. Glad you like being in a small town but it must be hard being away from family. Most of my family lives in Michigan.
It sounds like you have an interesting job. I hope work continues to pick up for you.0 -
@1theresamcvean
Thanks, I was hoping I wasn't offending anyone with my thoughts on gyms. I didn't think I was but sometimes it's harder to know what someone is trying to say with writing---you can't see facial expressions, which helps a lot in conversations.
From what I understand the governor is supposed to make a decision next week on gyms. There is also a lawsuit against her from them, bowling alleys and movie theaters happening next week. Not sure if that's why she's going to address it.
I also think it's great that we are "far flung" as you said. Makes it fun to know I can sit in my home in Michigan and communicate with those in other states and countries. Technology is great for that!2 -

Hello all!😊
I had a slight gain this week, but I feel ok. I’ve been losing like crazy, I feel like it’s maintenance this week. I’m so close to goal, these last few pounds are going to be the hardest to lose.
Hopefully next week I’ll see a drop on the scale.
Have a great weekend!😊4 -
Today I tried running. I started out running for 5 minutes and then walking for 5 minutes but that was a lot so I ran for 1 song and walked for 1 song sometimes 2 songs. I try running every so often, I'm not that good at it because of all my aches and pains. I had my fantasy football draft today and I only had 1 beer and I ate really well except for the queso, I had fish, potatoes and veggies, a little spoon of pasta. That was a win for me.5

beautiful weather here today. Hot and sunny but a nice breeze that made walking enjoyable.

Check in for the past few days
Food-on plan!
Water-at least 64 oz
Exercise-I have been getting in my 30 min of cardio plus PT
Things have been going well. I have been following my plan and I also have been doing IF for 14 hours all week which is good for me. For some reason when I hit my little button on my app to start my fast I don't snack. Whatever works right? My problems are the mornings, so I try to finish eating by 7 at the latest. I prefer earlier. I would eventually like to extend it to 16 hours but one step at a time.
Welcome @sf8813 and @mainebeachbum Looking forward to getting to know you!
@minstrelofsarcasm Belated Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a great day! You made me think with your pampering day and food. You know, I think I could replace food with things I like to do or pampering to celebrate. Sometimes things seems like common sense but I need to be hit in the head to figure it out Lol! I am happy you had a nice birthday and I hope you did well today with the spin audition. Hugs!
@tryingagain5 These are frustrating times to say the least-rant away! That is crazy with the overtime, talk about going from one extreme to the other! I am glad it isn't mandatory.
@pacsnc6 Happy Anniversary!! 50 years! Wow! Congratulations to you and your husband! Is the itching a side effect of the treatment or an allergic reaction? I hope the benedryl is giving you some relief. I love that Duke medical center has a boutique that lets you pick out such nice things for free. It sounds like you had a nice time shopping.
@ljdanny Sounds like things are sorta getting back to normal with working and getting to the gym. You will get back into a good routine soon I am sure! You made me Lol with the spin bike and treadmill conversation with your husband. He must be funny! I also wanted to comment about the running. I am not a runner but I did try to do the C25K a few times but couldn't advance after a certain point. I figured, even if I couldn't run straight through, I was still getting my heart rate up and burning more calories. I love the idea of running a song and resting a song or two. Good luck!
@podperson1 Maintaining isn't bad! How are things going? Are you still working from home?
@1theresamcvean Thank you for sharing that beautiful tribute and photo of your grandmother. I remember when you had all that sad news hitting you all at one time. Hugs to you and prayers for your family. xoxo
@debbiewsharpe It is so nice to have you here. I can't get over how many steps you get in daily, I was nervous making my goal 8K for September Lol! I guess I miss it when I post my steps at night. On another note-it can be overwhelming to respond to everyone so don't feel obligated. I have lost posts here and there myself. I like Ashley's tips. I actually reply in the box at the bottom of the page, then cut and go to the next page and paste in the reply box. You do have to be careful and remember it is there and not click over to another page without taking it with you.
@lenka1 I hope you had a great vacation! I know you will get that vacation weight of and then some!
@nstephenson01 I am sorry to see you go. I will miss you. It is important to do what is best for you. Hugs.
@annliz23 I love the inspirational post you post here and on the MFP page. Thanks for always brightening my day...or making me think.
@Melzz19 Nice loss! Sounds like you have a nice weekend planned! Enjoy!
@goingape Amazing steps! Love the pics of your dogs! Looks like they are having fun in the stream.
@brown6267 Looks like maintenance is going well for you
@hope002 Nice loss! You must be getting close to where you want to be. You look incredible!
@kirsten11872 You are doing so well, I know that is just a little blip. You are almost to goal-I am so excited for you!!

Thanks for letting me rant.😊 I don't like to do that but sometimes have to.😊
Yes, work has been crazy with the extremes. Not sure if it's a temporary busy or not. I'm glad it's not all mandatory OT too. Only Saturday is mandatory (Friday night for 3rd shift). It's nice they give us a choice during the week.1 -

The app button helped me a lot too. It's like a switch, it works .
Don't rush moving to 16 hours, continue with 14 until it gets easy, then increase by 30-60 min a week. If yo go too fast, it's easy to fail1 -

I am in need of a new pair of walking shoes, I guess all the walking I have been doing has taken its toll on my shoes and my feet. I have a narrow foot and according to the podiatrist a very slender foot without much fat on the bottom. Guess I lost weight in my feet instead of my butt. Also at my age (68 )every time you go to the doctor you hear "at your age" then they finish with something they say is age related. Sometimes I just want to tell the children doctors to figure out what is going on and hold the age card for later.
To get back to my point - any suggestions on shoes.
I am currently wearing asics (because I was told they run narrow) and my last pair were Brooks.
@sleepymom5 and @hope002
Interested in the fasting, what app do you use? Do you count your hours asleep in the fasting time? How about water? As you can see I know nothing about it but would like to try it.
@tryingagain5
I am still trying to get to know y'all. What is you job with all the long hours? Hope you are getting good rest!

At least there was no gain this week for you, I added instead of subtracted, grrrrrrrr
@ljdannyljdanny
love the running idea, I walk a lot but never have been much of a runner. I may try a few sprints along my walk today to see what happens. It might just surprise the heck out of my old body!
@kirsten11872
congrats on getting near your goal! I think we all have the ups and downs, the key for me is when I see a weekly UP, I get back at it a little harder. I weigh every day but the weekly weight here sure gives me a good picture of overall weight.

thanks for sharing the picture, still praying for you and your family

congrats on the spinning instruction! Celebrating without food is certainly a WIN!

Great attitude on the slight gain, it happens. How you deal with it is the key and "you got this"
