I graduated from the program a few weeks ago, I've been running 30 mins a few times a week, hitting only 2 miles. Last week I finally went for 3.1. Took me 46:15. Did it again a few days ago, a few seconds faster.
Yesterday at the gym in my subdivision, there was a sign for a C25K clinic and a 5K race on Sept 21st. I was talking to the girl at the desk and checked my schedule, I usually work Fri/Sat/Sun nights but am off the night before this Saturday race. While I don't need the clinic, having graduated, the race is open to any and all, so I signed up for it. It goes around another part of the subdivision. I know it's not a big race, not sure how many people are signing up, there are probably less than ten in the clinic, but figured this was a good place to start. I hadn't planned on doing one for a while, but since it fits my schedule, what the heck?
I plan to continue to do the 3.1 miles once a week, then also do a shorter run but where I can just work on going faster and not worry about how much I can do.
Not sure if the smaller race is a good thing with less people around, or a bad thing, with less people around. We'll find out .

Sounds like it was ordained. It'll be fun either way0

It'll be fine, because from what it sounds like, the race will be comprised of people just like you, and no doubt they will have all the same sort of fears that you do. You'll be fine, and good luck!0
