We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday - 88olds (George)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday - MASSRUNNER_FRANK
Friday - imastar2 (Derrick)
Today's Topic: LTL / Schedules, Timelines, Deadlines, Limits vs Flexibility, Variations, Options, No Limits
Living The Lifestyle Journey for most of us probably involves some form of involvement with the above topic.
1.Which works best for you? Or do you mix it up? As the old saying goes variety is the spice of life (or something like that)

My job was schedules and deadlines, schedules and deadlines. Glad to be out of that.
But on the other hand, I’m not exactly Mr Spontaneous. I like my routines. Including 3 meals per day that I eat at roughly the same times. With the COVID-19 business my regular routines are shot. It’s wearing on me.1 -
I am a creature of habit and do best with it.
Like 88olds, rountines are key for me. I even have been known to eat the same lunch or dinner for a week if I like it. Also makes tracking a cinch.1 -
Most of my work is schedules and deadlines and I prefer my weight journey to follow these same type of days. However while work has lots of deadlines it interrupts my meal schedules or timelines. Sometimes it's very difficult to keep a meal schedule because I let work get in the way.
There really isn't just as thing as no limits for me.0 -
I'm best with routine as well. It's easiest for me to follow a plan that I don't have to put any mental energy into. Like others, I eat at mostly the same time, and a generally similar set of meals from day-to-day. The same thing holds true for my exercise schedule.0

I second, or third, or fourth, etc.
Routine is easiest, and best for us also.

I responded to this at length on Friday, then promptly lost it (stupid 'done' button!), but since my answer is so different, I thought I'd revisit it.
I do not have a schedule. Some days I eat 2 meals, others 3 or 4. Some breakfasts are eggs, some are yesterday's dinner. Sometimes my first meal is at 8, other days I don't eat until noon. It just depends on how hungry I am, or my plan for the day. Mostly, I'm pretty flexible!
I will eat the same meal 5 days in a row though. But there is a lot of seasonal variations in my menu. In MI, we eat seasonal fruit and veggies because the seasons are short! So again, variety!
On the other hand, I am finding success in a daily check list that keeps me on track. 🤷1
