We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Monday - 88olds (George)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday - MASSRUNNER_FRANK
Friday - imastar2 (Derrick)

Today’s Topic: NSV (Non Scale Victories)

To conclude our final Thursday of the LTL thread and unofficially the end of the Summer that wasn’t, I thought it would be good to remember the good times - NSVs.

Your first?
Your most recent?
Your best or most memorable?

Discuss.

Your first? I can't remember, it's been too long. But maybe noticing the size of my stomach shrinking.
Your most recent? Despite the lack of weight loss the last couple weeks, I've noticed a thinning in my torso. DH even mentioned that a shirt looked really nice (it's not new), points for him!
Your best or most memorable? I have lots ... Rolling over in bed and not traveling across to the other side, seeing my knee caps, sitting w/ my legs crossed w/o having to tuck one behind something to keep it crossed, being able to walk thru narrow areas w/o bumping my rump on everything, being able to sit in the small space my snuggling pup leaves me.

    I love NSVs!

First- walking around The Museum Of Science And Industry in Chicago. A childhood favorite. Took a weekday afternoon off and had the place pretty much to myself. About 90 min without sitting. A very big deal.

Recent- any session with my personal trainer. Been on hold since March. Miss it.

Memorable- That avatar pic on the paddle board.

First was years ago when trying on a medium size shirt in a store and realizing that I was floating in it. If only I had kept on course!

A recent NSV was a result of cognition and the diet.
When choosing a Goal weight this round, I chose10 pounds above what I really wanted. I thought the weight I wanted was unsustainable. Well, here I am not only at that unsustainable weight but an additional 20 pounds below that.
So exactly how is this an NSV? I now am confident with the Plan and my execution of it.

Most memorable has to be when someone who hadn’t seen me in a year saw me and had a very stunned reaction and asked if I was working out calling me buff! Not bad for a 60 year old man.

Don’t remember my first, but I am guessing it would have been clothing related.

A recent one is that my right foot, which hurts most of the time is hurting less due to weight loss.

The most memorable is probably the first time I had a blood panel done after losing my first 25 pounds, and it came back super good.

Also clothing related. Noticing that my pants were WAY too big,
Recent, this AM, my jeans are really needing my belt which won't go on until ALTER me weigh-in at the studio.
Most memorable, when my Dr. said that I didn't need the diabetes medication any longer. That and the day I was him, after a trip to the ER for almost passing out in church. He said "that's what you get, for losing all that weight." And he adjusted my PB meds.
