When I read scripture/have a QT, the first thing I do is to read different translations so I can get different impressions of the scripture. Today when reading Hebrews 12:1-3, The Passion Translation really spoke to me, particularly v.1:
"As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us."
It's not always sin that entangles, it can be wounds. And if wounds are left unattended, those can turn into infections. That's really why I wanted to do I AM STRONG - I have experienced a lot of emotional and spiritual wounds this year that has been entangling me. Add onto that that I am a furloughed Disney employee who still doesn't have a job, and what happens is that I become unmotivated to do the simplest tasks. To get out of bed or have a regular sleep schedule. To leave the house. To plan meals. To stop scrolling through my phone. To spend time with God.
When I tell people I'm participating in a health and fitness class, almost everyone says "You don't need to lose weight!" Yea, I know. But I do need to tend to my emotional wounds, and since I am a very hands on type of person I knew that a program that requires me to be physically involved would help me to get one step closer to healing.5
