Bummer. My net calories have been well below goal because I'm not sitting at a desk all day, and so I was hoping for a little downward movement. I guess I will have to accept that to see that happen I am going to have to focus on actual calories and not net calories. But even then, the past couple of weeks have looked essentially the same as far as actual calories go as weeks where the net was higher but my weight was a couple of pounds lower! Weight is so much more than an easy mathematical equation. Maybe for me, stress affects my weight in a positive direction rather than a negative one. But I have no plans to try to recreate my work stress just to test that hypothesis! :p

On the positive side, I have found that I have a little more energy now that I'm not sitting so much. When I'm walking the hilly route, I'll suddenly realize that I am noticing the world around me rather than thinking about my hamstrings or quads or how tired I feel. To me, that's a big deal.

I am going to go back and re-read posts and come back to chat later. I don't know if it's the stress of losing my job or what, but my brain is not absorbing things on its normal level.

Ok. heading in the right direction. We're on day 3 of our new meal plan and again I failed to think when ordering my starbucks and automatically ordered the breakfast sandwich. I go every other day and order two drinks and one sandwich. One for the current day and one for the next day. Instead of the sandwich on the following day, I typically will make my own eggs and bacon (MW mornings I have meetings, so don't always have time to cook my breakfast) and Tues/Thurs/fri I cook when I get hungry in the morning and sip on my drink.

Yesterday I had the better than take out orange chicken. I did add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper and thought it was tasty. For dinner I made a big romaine salad with carrots, cucumber and egg. I just didn't want a heavy meal again. I think next week I'll go with 1/4c of rice for me.

Sarah - I laughed at your hypothesis and yes, I think the RIGHT amount of stress is good for us, but you've been under has been pretty excessive. I'm still praying for you to find what's right for you! And yes, you should enjoy your surroundings when you're out walking. :)

Sheesh - are you checking in today?

Here I am . . sorry I'm having challenges getting on the Mac.

NOT in the right direction. Cabin weekends are reversing any progress during the week. I did a really tough strength training and cardio session Monday. Yesterday I was so sore, but I tried to stretch while I was cleaning the house. (want my cleaning lady back!) Today I did floor aerobics for an hour . . I'm still sore from Monday. Tomorrow hubby is taking me golfing (socially distanced . . no clubhouse entry). I had a kiddo playdate Monday, Family Zoom last night (birthday party for granddaughter), and another on Friday. We called the city to see whether they will provide help for tree removal because it's overhanging the stream which is protected pretty carefully because the canyon is a watershed for Salt Lake City. They haven't called back yet. If not, hire it out . . like Sarah said. I don't know if I told you about the fabric for my sectional sofa (a LOT of fabric) going missing at UPS, but we waited to see if it would show up. There's no more available from the supplier, and it's not being manufactured anymore. So, we finally gave up and picked out another fabric we didn't like as well. THE DAY I was going to order it, the original fabric showed up at my previous interior design firm. No damage. I don't get it, but I'm relieved it showed up even though I was lost for 3 weeks!

Sarah, I too have had the contacts causing eye swelling. Ugh. Scratch cornea too in the old hard lenses days. I hate eye problems. The older I get, the more I prefer my glasses. I've never gone for the bifocals though. So, I may have to get some. Take care. I'm so glad you're joining me in retirement!! :) Even if it's temporary. It's amazing how busy I STILL am. You might have to learn to log food on your smart phone, although posting on this board doesn't work well for me.

Lois, your meals sound so tasty and healthy. Good for you! I have a really yummy egg roll in a bowl recipe. It reminded me that I should make it again. Hubby loves it! You guys are inspiring me to be better with my intake. I think I'm actually pretty good about exercise . . addicted to the endorphins?! But, food. Argh. I like to eat, and I like to drink some too. I'm sure I'll have beer on the golf course . . habits.

Happy Belated Birthday Sheesh!!! Hoping you had an amazing day and all of your wishes come true!!! Yay on finding your fabric!!!! That is super awesome. Prayers that the city will help with the tree!

Happy Monday morning ladies! Sheesh - loved your comment -Cabin weekends are reversing any progress during the week - as I feel the same when Rhea and the kids visit.

We had Rhea Saturday morning and all day while my son and daughter in law spent the day doing some fun stuff for her bday. They had lunch at Top Golf and hit balls for an hour, went home and watched an adult movie (ie not Disney) and then met some friends for sushi for dinner. Then they came back to our place and stayed the night.

Rhea was a blast. I got her down right after lunch in under 10 minutes and then she only slept for an hour and half, not her normal 2 hours...eek. She still seemed sleepy the rest of the afternoon, which meant she was super cuddly with Grammy. Oh and she's starting to say grandpa and grammy!!! Super excited about that. She went to bed after dinner and again, she was so tired (we still played pretty hard with her), she was asleep in about 15 mins with my son. We tried an air mattress with her frozen sheets and the kids brought the guard rail for the bed. They didn't use said guard rail and therefore when they went upstairs, rhea was on the floor and partially under their bed. The air mattress is a twin and only 9 inches off of the ground, so she didn't "fall" she rolled off pretty easily and without waking her up. The kids woke her up when they went to move her. Ah well. I guess she was up with them for a few hours and not a happy little one. I took over at 730 on Sunday and they went back to sleep until 10. We ordered from a great breakfast joint - as Sunday was also our anniversary.

With all of that fun, and having to clean the floors after Rhea left, we were too exhausted for meal prep. I actually took a nap and still wasn't fully recharged. So pizza for dinner. Today we are having left over breakfast from yesterday - super delicious eggs (they gave like 4 eggs per plate yesterday) and bacon. and left over pizza for lunch. Dinner will be bulgogi or honey sesame chicken with rice and those two will probably be in a couple of rotations this week. having Rhea really opens our eyes to just how out of shape we have become. Getting up/down on the floor to play with her, chasing her and bending. Oh Lordy, I need to step up my exercise. I want to become readdicted to the exercise endorphins again!!

Hi, Ladies. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and anniversary. My plans to get back here quickly did not work out. I did go back and reread posts, but then I got waylaid. You would think that now that I'm not stuck at a computer 10 hours a day it would be easier to visit here. But because I'm NOT sitting in front of a computer, it's actually harder. And I'm not online very much because I'm still trying to dig myself out from under 20 years of paperwork. Ughhh.

Yesterday, I payed bills for the first time since I was let go, and for the first time, it really hit me that I have no income. We're okay for a while, and I don't want to just jump back into the frying pan, but I do think I'll want at least some part-time income soon. One of feds I worked with passed on an email sent to her for a health communications job (fed contractor again), but they need someone immediately and it sounds like it would be high stress again and that you'd start with a backlog. So I have hesitated. I really do not want to just go back to the type of situation I came from. And this would not be in my area of expertise. It would be Covid. Freaking Covid! >:)

I don't know how the scale will treat me tomorrow. I have managed to get my 10K steps in everyday this week, but l did that last week, too. With intake, I've had a small deficit every day, but then I had a small deficit last week, too. So I guess I have to adjust either intake or activity so that the deficit is more than small. But as you know, that's easier said than done.

Sheesh, I meant to add that my eye got better pretty quickly, but next time I use new contacts (I used monthlies), the doc said to put them in clear care overnight first and not just rinse them with saline. And boy do I also remember scratched corneas from the old hard lenses. Nothing hurts like that!

And Lois, the honey sesame chicken sounds wonderful, and I'll bet that you burned more calories with Rhea and the housework than you do on a bike or walking. :)
