Open water safety

It’s nearing the end of open water swim season for those of us in the northern hemisphere but nonetheless I need to share this. Recently a member of our swim group had an asthma attack in the middle of the lake. All turned out well but medics were called in and it was very scary.
If you get even a little bit separated in the water it becomes very hard to see or hear others.
We carry safety whistles when hiking boating or kayaking. We should do this when swimming too. They attach easily to a swim buoy. I bought a 20-pak to share among our group. It will stay with my swim gear permanently.
