We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Today's Topic: Attitude
Do you ever pay attention to your Attitude as related to your eating habits?
Any comments you'd like to share?

Attitude
Apparently a happy or positive attitude has helped me these last few weeks. I woke up Tuesday 9/12 with blood in my urine but gone in 24 hours. After a series of phone calls however in an attempt to see a Dr I already had an appointment the next day with my gastroentologist. She referred me but the referral Dr. couldn't see me for 6 weeks.
Anyway after research and making a call I got an appointment the following week with a Urologist. Left there with full time catheter and bag hanging on my side and 2 new drugs added to my drug list portfolio (this will work on your attitude or at least it did mine)
So after a month of tests ct scan and Cystoscopy which was scheduled as a biopsy and further observations and treatments I finally was released from Dr. this past Wednesday 10/14 as being ok.
So my attitude went down the drain for a while and before I could catch it 7.5 lbs was added. Relieved of course on several fronts I slowy began gaining a positive attitude thus changing my attitude toward my eating habits. This has resulted in positive numbers for weight loss.
Just goes to show me you can never give up on having a positive attitude. Plus in my case lots of people praying for me.
The fight continues but for now this battle is currently behind me.

Attitude is very important for my ability to manage my weight. Clearly there are times where "I got this," and there are other times where I am in the dumps and think "what's the point?"
A lot of my own self-reflection is trying to develop a reflexively-positive attitude. I don't want to be a Polly Anna about things, but I do truly believe that if we can avoid a knee-jerk negative response to things, and give our times to think carefully, we'll often find positive in virtually everything (even negative medical states). At the same time, I appreciate that there is an emergence, in current society, to view everything as intrinsically-flawed and problematic. I am trying very hard to avoid taking that attitude as my basal state!1 -
Glad you are hanging in there Derrick. Quite the ordeal these days w medical stuff.
It is always difficult to avoid emotions for sure. It is a good thing if we can somehow shrug off the emotions or temper them down as Steve says above.
