November 3
Exercise? Yes! (3km walk in 26mins)
In budget? Yes
Tracking? Yes
Internet outage last night, could only post next day. Nice to be back. Thank you for all the welcome back messages.
My wife and I had lunch with friends (we consider these friends family). First time we have been able to do that legitimately in over 4 months. Melbourne has had one of the longest and harshest lockdowns due to COVID-19 and is now just starting to open up again.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Melbourne non-essential retail was shut down to in-store traffic on July 9. They re-opened to in-store traffic on October 28. July lockdown was supposed to be 6 weeks. Ended up being 16 weeks (over 3 months).
On September 6, the roadmap for getting Victoria out of lockdown was released. This meant at least another 6 weeks before non-essential retail was able to open.
The extension to restrictions was a crisis for me as I was already managing more than I could handle. Within 2 weeks I was in hospital having effectively "burned out". My friends were instrumental in getting me into to hospital as they could see I was not coping. I was in hospital for 4 weeks.
I am feeling much better now, but I am still not over all the problems. I am 1000% better off mentally now than I was in September.
I am still battling depression, but I finally I feel like I am starting to make progress.
@MaltedTea The first word that comes to my mind with accountability is responsibility. You become responsible for actions for which you can be held accountable. Doing what you tell others you will do in a way that can be verified objectively.6 -
My word would be essential, without accountability I could not have lost weight and I would not be able to manage maintenance, it has been essential to my process.
Yes, yes, and yes, a good day. I did my first full workout since surgery 4 weeks ago, it felt good!6 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? 4 mile treadmill run this morning + some ab work
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes and under
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yep!6 -

Exercise: Yes, ironing clothes for an hour
Calories: Yes
Tracked: Yes
3 pass days left.
For me; accountably is following certain rules and ethics for you and anybody who are affected by your actions.6 -
@MaltedTea Thought-provoking post. Yes, a specific word does come to mind for accountability -- honesty. And from the chart, I would choose responsibility. Personal responsibility, owning my adulthood, being awake to myself, is another form of honesty.
Yes x3 for Nov. 3.

I could not have stayed my definition of accountability better than @openthegatekate and @globalhiker
Accountability isn’t really a word, I use, however. Mine is “committed” to doing all that I can for my health - by choice.4 -

Tracked all
Under-just
Walked 1:47 hills/fast. Actually had to catch my breath a couple of times!!

Yes x 3
To me, accountability is realizing that God sees everything I do and think. I love Him and want to honor Him.6 -
Yes X 3, including C25k session in the dark.
As to what accountability means to me, I would also choose honesty and responsibility.5 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, I ran for 45 minutes.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? No. (Pass 3 of 3) 😔
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Accountability for me is me being honest and also knowing I have to log and post here and someone will see this.
Now that I’ve used my 3 passes for the month, I need to stop my emotional eating...6 -
Late entry for 11/3.
Accountability to me it is holding one’s self responsible for whatever choice you make or made.
I logged and exercised5 -
Yes, yes, yes
Managed a long walk of seven miles yesterday. I am very out of shape from events of the past several years and am working to get in better shape.
I like all the words presented. I especially like honesty with others and oneself.6 -
Exercise for atleast 20 minutes: Yes
Stay within calorie budget: Yes
Keep track of what I ate and drank: Yes
I do not have anything like a fitbit. Has anyone compared what their tracker says with what the system assigns as caloric usage. When I enter my exercise and see how many calories I supposedly used, I just think it is too high.3 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes my very cold morning walk 🥶 for an hour
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes - getting a salad for dinner very helpful! Love Panera s green goddess salad - hold the bacon and extra pickled onions
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes!
Accountability is responsibility to my mind - because it is a relatively neutral word to take on the good and bad,!if that’s makes sense.
I’m so bad with the long term of it - because my brain only seems to focus on one item at a time - and maintenance for everything else falls by the wayside on “account”. I don’t know why I can’t just figure out how to be a well-rounded person but it’s not my m.o.

I've all but given up on exercise tracking being a reliable calculation (with my smartwatch - Moto360 - or with MFP).
Take yesterday's MetCon interval training. My watch assigned 507 calories for 60 min 😒
I logged 350 which seemed more reasonable to me. That's about 30-33% fewer calories.
When it comes to this I'd rather err on the side of caution and underestimate calories from exercise rather than overestimate 🤷🏿♀️4 -
As for today's discussion about accountability. I used to have accountability partners to lose weight in the past, and when I quit smoking or other things in life. I like having someone to check in with and make sure I am on the right path. Right now, I really don't have that "accountability" partner so I struggle with doing what I need to be doing. I think it is part of that struggle of perfectionism vs excellence. How a perfectionist needs to have an audience and hear praise to help continue to motivate them vs someone seeking excellence will try to improve their personal best and don't need external motivation since their motivation comes from within and internally.
I do however know that I need to be in an accountability group and I am thankful for the UAC and honestly, I need the UAC. When I think of accountability now, areas I need to grow in are self-discipline and self-control and learn to be accountable to myself and the UAC.
