We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)

Today's Topic: Keeping up with Data.
Do you ever get Data overload when it comes to keeping up with Data on anything having to deal with weight loss/maintenance or does it even appear on the radar anywhere.

I keep up with the data pretty well. Track calories, etc. here, and points on WW. Also working 2 Excel spreadsheets.
First one (oldest) is for weight and morning blood levels. Second (much more recent) logs my caloric overs and unders, and shows how my Friday (WW weigh-in day) through Thursday numbers affect my weigh-in figure the following Friday.
Does help, to some extent. Like anything, if I'm working at lowering my intake, I lose. If I don't work at it, well I'm up. But, at least I know WHY.

I stay away from it. It reminds me of work. I’ve done some calorie logging on MFP, but my WW system was pen and paper. I use the internet to research.

I have recently in the past few months got tracking overload. I find though by not tracking and looking at the calorie intake regularly I tend to let myself get out out of control. Not good.

When it comes to tracking, I don't get data overload, but I do get lazy. Sometimes it's a function of being lazy and sometimes it's when I'm just having trouble focusing. I think that's why I like Simply Filling Technique so much.

I've experienced a form of data overload where the scale is concerned, and I stopped daily weighing as a result. Last year I developed an unhealthy (for me) habit of comparing my current weight to past weight on the same day a year prior, two years prior, six months prior, etc. I was constantly trying to project when I could reach that same weight/weigh less than some past date. I got myself all wound up. So I stopped daily weighing then I took a deliberate break from weekly weighing for a month, and that turned into three months, I think. I probably needed only a four to six week break, and in retrospect, I wish I'd discussed the issue on GOAD.

I track with WW, but I'm on purple so there's way less weighing and measuring food, which is part of what i love about 💜. When I'm tracking regularly, it's not hard. When I get out of the habit, it's beyond the most difficult chore ever 🤦 (the meme I really need is with the back of the hand to the forehead, swooning a bit LOL).

I daily track my weight, and like Emmie, I love to look back and compare, but for me it's encouraging! Im excited to see how long it's been since I've seen this weight! But I can totally see how that could go the other way!

I also track my Fri WI on the 10# challenge thread, and am encouraged by the progress, maybe esp right now when the rate of loss is slow. At least I'm losing 🤷
