We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Today's Topic: The News Of The Day
So lets say that the vaccine does come out and that it works and we get out from under this Covid19 thing. What are you going to do first? Does it have anything to do with weight loss? Or do you think you’ll just go on like you are now?
Bonus question: Have you started doing anything because of covid that you intend to keep doing? Any silver lining at all?

I'm dying to hug my nieces and nephews and to gather with my extended family and friends. The lack of physical contact is hard. I don't know when I'll feel comfortable with plane travel again, but I look forward to resuming travel at some point.
I think Zoom calls with remote friends will likely continue. Maybe not weekly, like now, because we'll all get busy again, but I think some frequency will continue. It's been great to reconnect. I also plan to have masks on-hand all the time, but especially during flu season. Got a sore throat/feeling a little achey but have to run an errand? I'll play it safe and throw on a mask.
We're in for a long winter's shut-in. I'm determined to get my house organized.1 -
Hug my children for sure. See them in person.
Eat in a restaurant and leave an embarrassingly large tip. Sometimes I wonder how I’ve made it so long at GW given how many meals I eat out. Or did anyway.
Go to a yoga class. Workout with a trainer.
But I don’t exactly see myself back in the gym. I was a gym germaphobe before. I don’t know if its for me. There are smaller studio kind of set ups with personal trainers here. I may check those out.
I’m wondering if the Tai Chi class at the YMCA is going to survive this. I miss that.
Silver lining: long walks. I might keep that.1 -
Yeah hug the kids and my wife's best friend to start. She is widowed and a wonderful talented writer and person we both like. Don't see myself going to the gym. Eating out would be great too.1

I'd like to start having guests for dinner and going to other folks' houses for meals. There were few kosher options for dining out here before COVID, and I'm not sure if any have survived the pandemic, so eating out at restaurants isn't really going to be an option for us. However, we really enjoyed getting together with folks from our community and it would be nice to do that again.
Put me in the long walks group too (though we used to take walks before, but they have definitely increased during COVID). I also have been trying to learn to juggle, so I'd like to keep that up. I'm not sure why, it's just a stupid human trick, but fun anyway!2 -
I want to cruise! and travel to places that are more indoor activities, ie. Vegas. And go to concerts in Nashville.
I'd like to meet face to face with my bible study group, and my MOPS girls. Would also like to attend in person church.
We ate out for the first time this past Friday and will do that again occasionally, but probably not once cold and flue season hits again.
Mostly I just miss going places without thinking about it so hard.
As for the positive, I've gotten on track with my eating and exercise habits. Plan to continue both.
We've done more outside activities and I'd definitely like to continue that, tho MI winters interrupt that some every year.1 -
MOPS girls. ??? Moms on Prozac? LOL1

I am looking to spend more time outside.1

Any and all things in person.
Bonus: I plan to continue with indoor fitness routine.1 -
1st thing is back to Church a mainstay in my life. With my surgeries I decided to limit most every activity involving crowds all be it some are still shut down.
Get outside and walk which I needed to do after surgeries covid or not.
Nothing changing as far as weight is concerned. That's still full speed ahead in the focus for loss.0
