Welcome December UAC members!!
New members are encouraged to read the FAQs and check out the 'What's on Your Mind Today' section.
After looking at the FAQs, if you have a question about anything relevant to UAC participation, please just ask it in your daily post. The UAC members are very generous and helpful.
Feel free to send me a MFP private message at RangerRickL
Welcome to December...it could change your life! It has changed others.

Good news on my side with a negative COVID test. Doc thinks my fevers were related to heat and related dehydration on the seal release on Monday. With only one kidney dehydration is really not a good thing so we are being cautious and I’m taking it super easy this week. I’ll take another pass today and get back to some light exercise and logging from tomorrow. No Jiu Jitsu classes for me this week but possibly a session with friends on the weekend and back to normal routine from Monday with a three week work shift (followed by three weeks off!)19

Welcome new members. This group has the simplest but most profound principles of weight loss and maintenance.
You will definitely find the process of the 3 Yeses changing you. It did for me. The group is very interactive and supportive.
We will encourage you to be in the Winner's circle but if not please don't drop out. Be in the Champion's group

Did I exercise at least 20 mins? Yes, my scheduled workout turned out to be nearly 50 minutes and I also ran 1.6 miles on the beach while my wife was walking. Hit my 10k steps as well so an all around wonderful day.
Did I stay within calorie budget? Yes! We went out to lunch and ordered all the things and still stayed within baseline budget so any exercise calories were bonus! Feels great!
Did I log it all? Oh yes, it was a challenge findings the foods in MFP at times but I was succesful.
These were the oysters and sea snails, which were followed by some locally sourced shrimp, a steak and some almond cake. As I said, we had all the things.

Hi @RangerRickL !
I’ve been mulling over an idea for a couple of months & reading the Amazing Weight Losses of several members in November propelled me to finally suggest it...
I would like to suggest that we divide our Winner’s Circle & Champion Circle into 2 sub-categories.
1.Weight Loss (or Gain as some have that as an important goal)
2 Maintenance
Reason: It’s tough to be hungry, it’s tough not to be at a comfortable weight, it’s more uncomfortable to exercise with extra weight...
I feel guilty being in the Winner’s Circle in maintenance, as I know HOW MUCH HARDER I had to work at the three requirements when I was losing. Now, I have more calories I can eat, I can walk faster & longer (Ie burn more than I was able), and I have habits in place.
I thought that perhaps people who are in maintenance could put an icon at the top of their post to indicate... or something like that. OR when we let you know if we are in Winner’s or Champion Circles, we could indicate if it’s the Maintenance group or the Weight Loss/Gain group.
Thank you for ALL you do...Really.

3X’s yes. Barely squeaked under on calories but I resisted temptation. I know that if I wasn’t back doing UAC I would have gone over. An extra bite here, a handful of nuts there- it all adds up so quick. I’m excited to be turning it around and being mindful about my eating.
6km light run and lots of stretches for exercise. Hoping to be back to more strenuous exercise soon.10 -

Though I know weight numbers are not the primary focus for us here in the UAC, I want to share that for November (a fairly challenging calorie month) I managed to get rid of 7.2 pounds, and for the October Challenge another -5.0. I am now weighing slightly less than October 2019, which seems like a miracle. Target weight is in sight (129-130 – weight at my nephew’s May 2019 wedding) and doable in the next couple months. I am grateful for the results. Also notable for the November UAC, I entered and walk/ran a virtual 5K. I looked at the results and I came in 154/357 for total entries, 87/234 female, and 19/87 over 50 female. I would have been happy if I even came in last, because I entered. Being in the top 50% is super motivating even though I know this kind of race is not full of competitive runners.
So now for my December UAC. I am starting by raising my daily target calories by 50, and will be re-evaluating this every 10 days, as I want to start easing into my eventual maintenance calories. I don’t want to get go from lower calories to higher calories in a single day. I will be trying my best for the Winner’s circle, but need to be realistic and will at least commit to showing up daily and aiming to be a champion and aim to clean off 2 more pounds during December. Then, during my next 9 days in the Keys, I plan to walk/run to Sombrero Beach and even try to get you a sunrise photo (will take some planning ) and get back home. Google maps claims the distance is 3.3 miles each way. At for the rest of the month, my brain can only cope with planning til the 12th. Will regroup again once up north again.
BTW in November, I did not opt for eating back my “exercise” calories like I had planned. My problem with the method of eating back each day’s exercise calories is that that calorie number not compatible with advance planning and tracking, and I like to plan and pre-track my days. So this is the reason I am going try upping my planned daily calories instead and that way I can continue with the pre-tracking that works well for me.
Here we go!
