One of the first times that I have typed 2021, and boy did it feel good!!
I have only a minute here but wanted to log before I forget. I hope to be back later to chat. Things are really getting busy with my new job, but they're becoming less frustrating as I get the IT issues resolved and training and onboarding out of the way.

So I'm up a little over a half pound, which I suppose I should be thankful for considering this was Christmas week with all the atypical Christmas goodies. I'm doing good with getting my 10K steps although I'm afraid it will soon be harder for two reasons. One is that work will probably get busier, and two is that the mall closure is imminent.
Intake is another story. I was finally staying around 1200 kcals per day without any activity calories, and then I relaxed a little, and boom! Although I might not go over with the extra calories added for activity, I am going over the 1200 without them too many days. I need to regroup.
It has been such fun reading everyone's posts. I'm glad that everyone had a good holiday. Lois, the timeshare sounds lovely and I'm sure a break from the house must have felt spectacular. We are all seeing the inside of our homes far too much now. Sheesh, I loved your poem and I bet the kids and grands did, too. It will be something to look back at in the future as we remember this very out-of-the-ordinary holiday time. And Kelly, I can just envision the puppy playtime wars, and I'm glad to have someone who can understand my angst with Edge and MS Teams. Why won't they just leave well enough alone and use Zoom and Skype? I suspect it has something to do with money. It always does.
Will try to come back later to post again and further catch up with everyone.

It definitely has something to do with money. The licenses for MS Teams per computer are way cheaper than for Skype or Skype for Business, which doesn't make sense because they are both Microsoft programs I believe. Ah well.. something completely out of our paygrade to determine I guess. I need to eventually get back to tracking food and working out, but it all just seems like so much right now. You know when it feels like you have so much on your plate and adding one more thing seems like it'll put you over the edge? I'm sure my motivation will get there eventually. It's not like I have a ton going on, since I can't really go anywhere anyway, but I think that stress is definitely part of it.0

REDUCTION!!! I WILL TAKE IT! I'm still on PTO and doing great at monitoring my email and not allowing myself to jump on to address every little issue. I did have to work Monday morning for a few hours for reports and payroll, but when I was done, I logged off and stepped away. I was proud of myself because there was definitely more that I could have done, but it can wait until next week and I'm letting it. We've been doing a poor-fair job of addressing the house clean up organization. Not getting quite as much done as we had hoped...it's exhausting. We get to see Rhea again tomorrow night for NYE and the kids are planning on staying the night - we're excited. Good news on my boss. She sent an email to the team and she's begun PT.
Sarah - my fingers are crossed that you get up and running soon.
Kelly - your Christmas Eve and day sound wonderful...less Jodi having to leave early due to the puppies.
Still to work on is my meal planning - though I am thinking of various menus, so I'm not ignoring the topic/subject/goal. I'm also reaching close to 10k steps while doing what we're doing around the house - and the workout area is accessible!!0 -

Up a bit, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Congratulations on your reduction Lois. That's so hard to do during Christmas. And, what a relief about your boss! I'm so happy for you getting to see your granddaughter. I'm envious. I see mine often, but the computer screen is getting very, very old. Please let's get this vaccine going asap! I can't wait to travel again. Hope hubby's back and your hip are all healed up for the New Year.
Kelly, I can picture the puppies going at it like my dogs did when we had two. It's mostly in fun, but then things can turn quickly. I'm not worried about you getting back into the groove when you're ready. I have to say that I've grown to love closing all three rings on my Apple Watch more than getting 10K steps. When you click on the activity, you can see how many steps you have for the day. I did a Latin Dance Apple workout today that was so fun! Then a 10 minute HIIT class, and a 10 minute mindful cool down and stretch. The workouts are great. Praying that Shawn gets relief from the foot pain very soon. And, how did you get a PS5? They are impossible to get. What a fun Christmas gift for your kiddos.
Sarah, sounds like you're picking up steam with the new position. You'll be onboarded and going very soon. And I'm sure, like your hubby said, a paycheck will make it feel good. I'm sad for your loss of your indoor walking space and walking buddy. I know it's hard to change things up. But, looking back over all the changes in my life, every one had a lot of angst surrounding it, but there isn't anything I would do differently. Usually, change works out for the best. Thinking of new ways of doing things and coming up with solutions to problems is the hard part.
Well, it looks like it's going to be me and hubby alone for New Year's Eve, so I'm trying to think of a nice dinner, games, and maybe a movie before the ball drop. Any suggestions? Kelly, your game sounded fun. . is it a board game? Maybe we'll just drink champagne and toast good riddance to 2020!
Happy New Year ladies.

To be expected. Lack of physical activity is the biggest culprit for sure. I have been working and at home, so as Sarah understands, it just keeps me at my computer all day long. I will need to find ways to get my activity in - walking, weights, quick workouts here and there. It's definitely possible, I just have to do it. Hubby and I had a conversation about getting fit and healthier together again this morning. With his foot starting to get on the mend again, he's going to get going on the basement again, which will then make out workout equipment accessible. His doctor referred him to an orthopedic surgeon, but the pills he gave him have helped immensely.
Sheesh - What The Meme is a card "board" game. Basically you look at a picture and then have to place the best card to describe it. It's pretty funny. It's definitely hard to celebrate New Years with just 2 people. I've actually never really been a big fan of New Years Eve... it was always just another day for me. Lately we've been struggling to stay up past 9pm, so we'll see how today goes. It'll be our goal. lol Board games and cards for sure are the way to go. If I put on a movie, I'd definitely fall asleep.
I will definitely have to check out those workouts on the apple watch. I know the pedometer is on the next screen when you click it, I just wanted a way for a quick view. Eventually I will get to the point where steps aren't my main goal, but for now, that's where I'll be starting.
Lois - Awesome with the reduction! So great that you get to see your family. I'm also very envious. I can't wait until the day when I can spend time with my parents and Brother's family. Also great job staying away from work while you can! I know sometimes it's difficult when you know there is work waiting for you there, but the time off is worth it in the end.
Happy New Year to all of you ladies!! Let's hope for an amazing 2021 and my wish is that these vaccines work and are given to everyone who want them. So grateful for you ladies.

Happy New Year everyone. This past year and has not been the easiest one, but we were just on a zoom with some friends and someone mentioned that we still have a lot to be grateful for. Knowing you ladies through Bodybugg, the stand alone website (remember that one?) and MFP is one thing I'm very thankful for. A friend mailed us some photos (yep actual printed photos) from years past (I think she had two copies of each), and one of those was of me right when I first started with the bodybugg in 2010. You can see it on my upper arm. Remember how big they used to be? Anyway, I was about 20 pounds heavier than I am today, and you could really see those 20 pounds in my face and my mid-drift! So although I'm not where I eventually hope to be, I'm grateful that I'm not where I was at that time. And better times are coming!

Kelly, the thing that finally got me started downward a little again was just striving to get those steps. Glad to hear that your hubby's foot is doing better.
I suspect it will be a fairly quiet evening for us all. And when I toast the beginning of 2021, you guys will still be stuck in 2020 for 3 more hours! As Lois would say, Bwah-ha-ha!

Welcome 2021!!!
We had a wonderful evening. The usual covid free group got together - us, Rhea and family, daughter (not the blood one) and the pneumonia surviving neighbors and the blood daughter via FaceTime. We ordered dinner in and visited with my daughter in Okinawa for quite a bit. We watched WW84 - bit disappointed but it did get us to stay up until midnight (mainly commentary about how disappointed we were and pointing out loopholes in the story). Glad we didn’t pay to see it in the theater. I’m super glad we’ve all agreed to not extend our visits with others. The pneumonia surviving neighbor did keep distance from me since I saw the other grands last week and I was fine with that - no offense taken. I was masked up and distanced with them. My daughter and son in law really enjoyed the FaceTiming on the iPad we sent - loved the bigger viewing area. We opened our gifts from them - beautiful masks from Okinawa and a USMC anniversary blanket from Okinawa. All beautiful.
So when my kids were growing up I was really into photography and had a canon camera that used 35mm film. Well I have several lenses , flashes and filters from my original camera. I broke down last week and ordered a new canon camera! I was playing with it with Rhea and fell back in love with photography. So I’m going to spend some time getting acquainted with my camera and taking more quality photos. May not get me moving as much - or it might. But I need a new hobby and at Least now I don’t have to pay to develop the film. Might need a new bag to hold everything- otherwise I’m all set.
Kelly the game sounds fun. I might order it to okay at our next visit. My old company from Cali released a new game and sent me one. Then they teased me that I may be too young to play (Kelly you may be too young as well). It’s called Boom Again and geared from 50,60 & 70 memorabilia (I may have had more exposure than they’re giving me credit for knowing). They also said it plays well on zoom. Something to think about if you gals are looking for a game among your friends. I haven’t played it yet - and yes they are working on an 80s -90s version - I told them to include the 70s in that version as well there may be enough crossover.

Just checking in to read your posts. Happy New Year! We had a quiet one with just the two of us. We played games, had pizza and salad, watched "Soul" (a cute and surprisingly touching movie), and barely made it to midnight, lol.
Lois, Boom Again sounds like fun . . I will have to get it. My family loves trivia games. It sounds like you had a very nice New Year. A new camera will be a great hobby for you. I look forward to some photos posted here! Also, I have to agree that WW84 was dumb. The graphics were good, but the story was dumb and full of holes.
Sarah, you DID get to 2021 before us! Every night my hubby tells me how many days, hours, and minutes are left until Inauguration Day, lol! I'm sure he would be even more envious of your 3 hour advantage!
I'm also so grateful for the bodybugg and other fitness and calorie trackers, and especially the support of you ladies here. I am also still 20+ pounds less fat than when I started at 156 lbs.
Hubby and I discussed our 2021 goals. We were discussing how hard the past year has been, but that we were (so far) successful at avoiding Covid and other serious illness, and that it would be a shame to come through it all but be less healthy due to lack of activity and unhealthy diet. We recommitted to that, and I'm especially happy that he has because he's not really an "exerciser" . . . if it's not a game, competition, or outdoor recreation he doesn't really do it . . no exercise just for exercise sake. He's been really good, and has gotten on the treadmill the last 3 days! If I close my Apple Watch rings today, I will have a "perfect week". So, I'm off to get it done now.
Hope you all are safe and healthy, and are setting your goals for this new year.0 -
LOVE your commitments!! Truly I do. Hubby and I had the similar conversations. I am just wrapping up for the day (it was a long one after a two week holiday)... and I'm leaving stuff on my desk that I will start with tomorrow. That's another commitment...working closer to my normal hours (after today) and taking a break for lunch - even if it is a walk around the block like I used to. We keep the heater on for MIL upstairs and I need to figure out how to cool my area to be able to walk/ride on my equipment. UGH.
And, I'm super duper thankful to you ladies for sticking with me and not giving up on me or kicking me to the curb. This year is going to be a better year.
You can order the game at Boomagain.com. We haven't tested it out yet...but this is the company I worked for just before leaving Cali - I miss them.
So in our Monday meeting today one of my coworkers asked about a couple of co-workers and their updates. The gal who contracted covid and her mother passed away is still in the hospital. She had some serious lung issues BEFORE covid...so not helpful. My boss is progressing in her therapy and is in a rehab place. Still having issues moving her left arm. If you're a praying kind a gal, please add my two Sharons to your list. Two other co workers and their families contracted Covid over the holiday - thank goodness they are both mild cases. Another reason to keep our bodies moving.
I was thinking about Sarah when it was close to midnight. We did ask my daughter and SIL if 2021 was better already since they are 16 hours ahead...lol. Hoping your onboarding is almost complete and you can get going on your new part time gig!

First day back at work today after the holidays, from the comfort of my home. Not super easy when there are 2 dogs here and require my attention some of the time, but I'll do my best.
Tomorrow I will go into the office for a few hours to get some things done. I didn't want to go to today for a couple reasons; 1 - it's our department's first day back so there will likely be more people than normal in the office and 2 - our pup still doesn't like the kennel and I hate putting him in it. He cries and barking so much that it breaks my heart. Kind of like leaving a baby to cry it out in a way. We will eventually just have to do it, but we haven't had to much yet with me working from home and the kids being around. They are also back to school today. Our daughter will go to school every day, but our son has remote home schooling for 2 weeks everyday. Kind of strange the way they decide on the rules, but whatever. I heard a stat on the news this morning that was pretty shocking - 1 person in the states is dying every 33 seconds from COVID. So sad. Obviously some states are way worse than others, but it's hard to think this is ever going to go away, especially with this new variant they are finding. Hopefully the vaccines cover it and get out there to everyone as fast as possible.
Sarah - I forgot how big those BodyBuggs were! And how not a lot of people at the time wore fitness trackers. Now almost everyone I know has some form of fitness tracker - apple watch, fitbit, garmin, etc. Crazy.
Lois - that's great about the camera. Some sort of hobby is always good! It'll give you inspiration for getting out on those walks too I'm sure. That's good that your boss is progressing. I'll be thinking of her and the other Sharon that's in hospital.
Sheesh - Hubby and I need to recommit too. I find it difficult right now and definitely have the puppy as an excuse, but yesterday I managed to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes while he slept. I also took both dogs for a 15 minute walk through the snow and I took the pup for 2 more 15 minute walks in the afternoon and evening. That's more moving than I have done in a long time.0 -
Lois, your resolutions about work so reminded me of myself for many years. I've always had trouble not working overtime (and since I was salaried, unpaid overtime) and taking a lunch break. I always admired people who are disciplined enough to do that. Now that I'm part-time, I had hoped that it would be easier to have a balanced work day, but yesterday I had problems with drafts just disappearing and so I had to redo three tasks and was stressed to the max by the end of the day. Hubby was getting cranky because he does not want our life to slip back like it was and my working late delayed dinner and his blood sugar went down. I hope today goes better. I really do believe that work stress makes me gain weight and/or not lose. Last night I had a nonwork zoom meeting to attend and so I hit the treadmill at 10:30 with about 1500 steps. All along the way, I kept looking at my Fitbit thinking, I'll never make 10K, and a couple of times I sat down on the loveseat in the basement feeling defeated. But I just kept getting back up and cranking up the speed and I reached 10K at 11:57 p.m. with 3 minutes to spare.
However, this morning the scale is up some and I think that's because of the stress of the day since my food intake was pretty good.
Seems like all of us are looking at ways we can make this New Year a healthier one. One of my main goals for this year is to build up some strength, although I am still struggling to get started on that.
Kelly, it's so good to have you back on the board, and yeah for the movement yesterday. Sheesh, I wish I could get my hubby to make a commitment to move more. Because he tends to be a person who moves around a lot during the day (when he trains people by phone, he paces the whole time) and he's within the weight range his doc suggests, it's hard sometimes to get him out to walk. I think that's also partially because he is having some kind of problem with his legs even though he is off the statins.
Well work beacons. Have a great day everyone.0
