Trying to smile through the frustration

We’re trying to lose weight and be healthier. Why? WHY do others have to judge?
“Oh, please like you NEED to diet.”
“You have no idea what real dieting is.”
How do you respond?

I laugh at them.... my body, my business what I do with it.3

I don't discuss diets with my coworkers or anyone that isn't on the same goal path that I'm on. MFP is literally the only place I'll talk about it.6

I occasionally get unsolicited comments about weight too- oh don't lose anymore you're getting so skinny or have you lost more since we worked together last (no, i've actually gained 10 lbs since november but thank you).... sometimes they're just phishing, sometimes maybe its a top im wearing. But it reminds me not to comment on other people- their weight, their lunches, their exercise choices except to reflect back encouraging behavioral comments when they say things like "I'm having salad cause I'm trying to be healthier" or "I walked for an hour after work yesterday".
Lately if people comment on my weight, my food, etc I just say "Thank you" even if its a bit nonsensical cause I'm assuming they're complementing my obvious weight loss in the past few years and want to say something nice to me and/or are feeling self conscious about their own clothes/weight/lunch/diet and exercise choices. Good luck, hope this helps, hugs6 -
I agree with @cayenne_007 and @mypinkbikini : my body, my business. I also don't discuss weight loss with anyone other than my husband.
My weight and my health are something very personal and no one else needs to judge. If they do, it's their problem not mine.5 -
I ttly agree with all of you!
Who cares? It’s all about ME in the sense of what we want and how we want to look n feel.
I just give a BIG SMILE and walk away 😆4 -
Thank you everyone for your help. 🤗 I agree. I don’t discuss it, however it’s blatantly obvious that I’m eating healthier and not drinking as much. That’s when the comments come in.2

Me too! I dont talk too much about my weight loss efforts with friends, especially my friends who are heavier than me. I know im a reasonably fit slim person, so I just find its tone-deaf for me to talk on about wanting to lose 5-7 lbs when someone else is 30 - 50+ lbs overweight. We all have our own journey. But I will tell friends about finding MFP or a new workout or enjoying a run etc - I think that's natural to share! And same thing if they notice im eating healthy or I've stopped drinking - I would just tell them how great I feel! Maybe we can encourage some good habits. 😁
When we arent in lockdown I play teamsports (soccer, hockey) and can definitely talk with my teammates because most are just as fit as I am. But even then we talk about fitness (or injuries LOL) and not about weight. I think weight it just a topic that is too fraught with personal issues for most women.
But I love that I can talk about it here!!!7
