The UAC healthy habits are based on being mindful. Thinking about what we are about to do. Tracking what we did.
Being accountable.
Yesterday, @transparentenigma shared a post about her awakening mindfulness. Here is an excerpt, I recommend you read the entire post,
" A close pal special day was a few days ago and she saved me a piece of cake. She took me up a bit of food where I had to tell her only small portions. I basically showed her the small bowl she could place all of the food in. I explained what I was going through (the calorie counting and everything) but that I would not eat the cake or food at her house but that I would have to carry them home, weigh them and it will probable take me about 5 days to eat the cake as I know that it has a lot of calories. anyway, came home, weighed it,(the cake) found the total calorie amount..... a whooping 1450 per slice...
p.s. I still had the cake, but I measured exactly 56 grams which equaled 207 calories..."
That is mindfulness. Very well done!
Rick

@transparentenigma 's post from yesterday made me think about a good friend that I have and how she's always trying to force food on me when I visit her! (Rant in spoiler for brevity). She's been my bff for 20+ years, but she consistently nags at me that I'm getting too skinny and is constantly trying to give me sweets and treats when I visit her. (Oh and alcohol). Now this friend is literally never been over 130 in her life - she eats nothing but sweets throughout the day and will get MAYBE 250 calories at supper (of real food - not snackie stuff!) How she's lived like this her whole life is beyond me.
I've lost 34 lbs and am trying to lose about 30 more, which will still put me about 140 - so I'm NOT losing too much weight! I have to make sure that I eat before I go to visit her, and even then sometimes I will bring cheese or something else that I can snack on at her house, because I know I will get tempted. It's frustrating and difficult and I've tried to tell her so. The point is, I'm constantly declining food/alcohol when I'm there, and I've even showed her my big ole belly to try to get her to SEE that I'm NOT losing too much weight! I've tried to be nice about it, and she has backed off a little - but I've actually quit going over to visit her as much as I used to because of this.11 -
I have lost count of which days I DIDN'T post recently - (whether I logged or not / haven't missed any exercise but can't be positive if the exercise was enough to counter the lamb stew or not) so I am arbitrarily calling it "3+ pass days used " solely on the non-logging factor.
Aiming for Champion, though. I will be going back and reading all the "theme of the day"s and people's comments later. But right now it is time to get to work.7 -

Thank you @SModa61 for the Half size me webinar recommendation, I really enjoyed it!
@transparentenigma , that is such an insightful anecdote!
On the topic of mindfulness: Since joining the UAC, I have been removing all distractions, such as my phone, during meals.
Also, this Sunday, I will be baking for the first time this year. One of my goals for this month is to continue tracking calories on pass days. This should help with mindfulness and is in line with @mojo2325 's quote and @Mrs_Hoffer 's reminder that one must measure to manage to improve!8 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
• Planks Day 9 Beginners (3min 27sec)
• Jogging 5.22 km (6:58 min/km) - by best 5km was 5:54 min/km on June 4, 2020 – with this pace I was in the top 18% of women of my age. I am asking myself again and again if it is so important to be the best. Or maybe it is better to save the knees for the next 30 years of relaxed jogging?
• Walking 2km
• 30 min “Lift and Shred” with J. Michaels + 10 min ABB Attack (Shaun T)
• Fitness Age/VO2max: 51/34

Calories: Yes
Exercise: Yes, but still stuck on basic 20 minutes. I meant to do some more walking, but by the time I had sorted out my partner's problems, it was time for curfew (6pm - 6am) again. Unlike some of you, I only have a small apartment (70m2) and I cannot really see how to trot around it for another 5 minutes ... ( I could do 5 minutes cleaning the stove, but that feels like cheating!) Will start earlier tomorrow, weather looks good, and do 25 minutes. No cheering just yet!
Have logged everything though ...9 -

Happy Tuesday everyone. Almost a THIRD of March done already. wow.8 -
I succumbed to temptation at lunchtime and I’m over budget for the day. However evening Jiu Jitsu reminded me why I generally avoid wheat and how too much triggers my asthma. I’ll be avoiding it for a couple of weeks and then limit my consumption again to get it back under control.
In addition to Jiu Jitsu, I did a group session with our personal torturer this morning. Tough training day but worth it. And my massage was rescheduled from yesterday for tomorrow which is actually perfect! Also had a mammogram check up which is all clear. I have a friend who has had breast cancer twice so I’m really good with my check ups. And I get points for my insurance rewards program for them!10 -

On mindfulness, the family bought an ice-cream cake today, new flavour too! But today out of all days, I had already planned my meals, but since it was tempting to try it, I deleted one thing and took 21 grams worth of the cake (66 calories)... I'm happy to say, I was satisfied with that slice and didn't feel the need to take another bite, and it was really delicious 😚.
@SModa61 I'm curious about the taste, I like to try new foods whenever I can, also I'm not a very picky eater. So it's highly possible that I'll like it. The nutritious values are very tempting.
@Chinkiri That's just life, no worries if not today's, the cheers are waiting for you tomorrow 💜💜.9 -

How do you feel? Okay. A bit hungry as the almonds have not really helped. Trying hard not to mess up the whole day by doing something stupid at the end. May make a cup of tea and call it an early night6 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? ✅
(ignore the spoiler below if you don’t want to read my rant about my ankle injury!)STILL not able to run on the ankle TWO WEEKS after my fall... I originally said that I “reactivated an ankle injury” but based on how long it is taking to get better, clearly I sprained it again. I am, however able to walk without pain and only have mild soreness when I’m done (for which I am icing it). I am doing two walks per day, trying to get distance in instead of speed.I did 1 x 35 minute walk at lunch & another 45 minute walk after work.... the weather here today was glorious, which makes it so much easier... I attached a picture from the second walk, love the light in the early evening
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? ✅. For some reason the simple addition of 70 calories to my daily total (when I adjusted wt loss targets to only 1 lb/week) has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE to me comfortably making it under goal. It’s not that much, I just don’t get it, but not going to complain!
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? ✅
Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow!12 -

Right after I finished my homemade chicken vegetable soup for lunch, one of our clients brought in some lunch for us. Lol
She owns the local Chinese restaurant. I skipped the spicy crab salad and egg rolls. I had already eaten and would have had no clue how to count what she brought in.9
