First off, I want to welcome all the new members; and my reoccurring ones for the start of March! I have not had a chance to post in the new member's section yet for this month, but promise soon! I can't wait to meet all the new people! I am leaving by myself, first time on a plane ALONE, for Georgia to visit a dear friend who got divorced in 2019 tomorrow morning! I will try and post before I leave and post more than last time because I hated trying to play catch up on so many days! I will be gone for 7 days and so EXCITED!
@dory-42 I am THRILLED to see you back posting and wondered where YOU have been? I second what @SummerSkier POSTED AND COPIED from YOUR post!
@chinkiri Having a father-in-law with Dementia and a Grandparent, I know it is HARD and better to LAUGH than cry, right?
@mshawski I would LOVE the idea of having a book club, and weird you mentioned it because I was thinking of doing the same thing this month! I LOVE reading books too! I am currently reading the title SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS by Thomas Erikson, and it is great so far and found out I am the color YELLOW! We ALL have a color, and it helps you communicate better with people if you know what color they are, very INTERESTING!
@transparente Welcome to the UAC! I need to ask why you clean kennels? I used to work dog daycare and take care of 75 dogs a day, so I know that is HARD work!
@shrkldy Welcome to the UAC! I need to ask, what is a Russian twist?
@dsgoingtodoit Funny March saying ya got there! Cutting carbs is a GREAT idea, and how I lost 33 pounds in 5 months! It started first eliminating gluten as I was having issues with it and did NOT enjoy gluten-free bread, so I gave it up! I now incorporate some gluten, and it is fine, but too much of it, and I bloat up HUGE and FEEL very SICK!
@MadisonMolly2017 I guess I NEED to read this bike post you made because EVERYONE loves it! I will look in the morning before the plane ride! I LOVE how you rode 100 miles in Hawaii and raised 6K for leukemia and lymphoma! I expect nothing less from YOU!
YOU ALWAYS INSPIRE ME!
@RangerRickL Thank YOU again for this group, the books, and honestly acting like a FATHER to me because honestly, I NEVER had one that did NOT ABUSE me in some way! YOUR help in my life is greatly APPRECIATED!

@biketheworld
Bikes & bike riding are awesome. I trained with Team in Training and rode a 100 miler in Hawaii, raising $6K for lymphoma & leukemia. Such a calorie burn, the views are awesome, and biking is so enjoyable!
I’ve now begun to say, “Remember the bike analogy!” to myself! 🤣
Whatever works, right?[/quote]
I can’t even express how much I love this. I’ve never run or rode for Team in Training but they have a great reputation and what a wonderful cause. 100 miles in Hawaii? Sounds heavenly.
@mshawski - I think you’ve started something with the book club comment! Count me in too. One of my very nerdy life goals is to have a complete set of Pulitzer Prize fiction winners in hard cover. I just finished The Nickel Boys.
I got my first shot yesterday. I feel like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. My arm is sore but not bad. However, I had a terrible time sleeping last night. Woke up at least 4 times. Not sure if it was because of the shot or not. At 5:00 I decided to just get up.6 -

I looked up SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS by Thomas Erikson, and it seems to be the basis behind a "What Kind of Leader are You?" course I took. The course was very informative (and let me say straight off that people are rarely a PURE colour .... and that your default in good times and your default under stress are not necessarily the same, although certain types do tend to default in certain directions
The pdf is available on line to download if people DO want to do a book-club thing in the "What's On Your Mind Today": space.3 -
Exercise: Yes, my regular cardio and a small core exercise routine
Tracking: Yes
Calories: Yes
Since this is the March 1 entry, I thought I'd share plans. A few weeks ago I decided to add a gradual increase in steps and meeting the stairs goal my watch sets. So far, I missed that on just 1 day. This month, I want to gradually walk outside and have added a three day a week core exercises routine for base strength.

Yes, it talks about what you mentioned in the book. I am mostly a yellow, but also a red, and even some blue! It says that people tend to be more one color or two colors, but on the rare occasion can even be three colors! It also states that most people tend to be green. I found it funny that my husband is blue, and I am yellow, and our 2 kids are green. I am a hairdresser, so we work off the color wheel and thought it explains why the kids are green because if you mix a blue and a yellow, you get GREEN! Think a book everyone should read!3 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes, treadmill 33 mins / 1.84 mi + upper body weights (dumbbells)
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes
Did I do treadmill AND weights or abs? yes
Started the new month off right with an upper body workout. Plan is to do weights Mon-Wed-Fri and abs Tue-Thu-Sat. I haven't done a good job with this at all the last couple of months but I need to create some consistency. So that is my additional goal for March.6 -

Wow, look at you all! I marked everyone's report as either "Insightful" or "Inspiring" because you're all at least one of these, if not both
And to @amsabbahi95, @megmo20007 and @CEPerry100 welcome to you as well as all the other first time UAC folks for March
Here's my late entry...
---|---|---|---
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? YES | Stretching (20) TOTAL: 20 min
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? YES | * Base + 65
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? YES
---|---|---|---
* NOTE: Stretching counted as half the exercise calories
Personal Bonus: Did I meet my protein macro for the day (40%)? NO | 37%
Pass Days Used: --
Finally, as I've done on the first of every month thus far, I'll list my accomplishments. Since joining UAC in October 2020, I've lost 3.7% body fat and gained 1.5% in lean body mass. Trying to figure out how to improve this ratio so as to pack on more lean muscle faster. With the help of UAC participation over the past 30 days, I've been able to:
* Lose 0.5" off my waist and 0.3% body fat
* Do traditional pushups without crying like a baby
* Incorporate stretching into my regular routine (but that's mostly because the ever-inspiring @calvin20874 wasn't giving up his secrets lol I swear I'll leave him alone now 😆)5 -
MARCH 2021 UNTIMATE ACCOUNTABILITY CHALLENGE

January 1, 2021 – 132 (-3.6)
December 1, 2020 – 135.6 (-5.2)

October 2, 2020 – 147.8 (-5.2)
September 14, 2020 – 153.0
I need to revisit how I am handling my daily calorie goal for maintenance as I am “failing” in that regard as I lost another 3 lbs while “maintaining” during this month. Having two variables of food calories and exercise calories is challenging for me. In the past I have lost and maintained with less significant exercise numbers so it was more a single variable. I do not want to drop back on exercise as I am doing it for overall health and fitness.
Thoughts for daily calories goalJust use MFP to calculate my maintenance calories/day. Nutritional needs are estimated at 1590, and it predicts that with exercise, I would need 1862 for 1 hour exercise for days/week. Average Apple Watch TDEE for February was 2126. Average calories consumed/day for February were 1686. With three pound loss over the month, to maintain, I would have needed an additional 375 calories/day for a total of 2073/calories/day. So, my thought for March is to consider my daily goal, 1590 plus daily exercise, but, for planning sake, I will expect that number to be around 1900 calories.
March History
Date: 3/1
Exercised?: Yes, 1:27:01 group walk at 17’27” pace for 4.98 miles
Calories?: Yes, 1890/1590 daily + 309 exercise (net 9 cal)
Tracked?: Yes
Rings Closed?: Yes, March goal is 27 out of 30 days
Apple Watch TDEE: Filled in next day/visible in March history spoiler

Congrats everyone that made the winner's circle and champions. You all deserve it!
Welcome newbies.... my advice is hang in there, don't drop out please. It pays off! None of us are perfectwe are are in this healthy lifestyle journey.
This is a very encouraging group. The 3 daily habits are what you need whether you are maintaining, losing or trying to gain. It works whether you are on WW or Noom or doing some other form of weight related program. The principle is the same:- Track all your BLT (Bite, Lick and Taste) for the day
- stay within your allocated calorie intake
- Exercise (UAC only ask you to do any form of exercise for 20minutes)
